No, this isn't going to be a short blog, too much has happened!
Bad news first:
I took my driving test on Tuesday last week. My instructor's garage fucked up again and she didn't have a car so I had to do it in her instructor friend's car. I was massively determined to pass despite that but, alas, having just one hour to get used to a new car threw me too much and made me extra nervous so I messed up the manoevers. Yup, a resounding fail :-( Very frustrating because I did easily my worst parallel park ever and they've been fine recently - I did a perfect one a couple of lessons before my test! It's not all bad, I did a perfect hill start on the hill I hate doing hill starts on and I was fine at roundabouts (I used to have a bit of an issue with them). Current statistics state that only 31% pass first time and as I was in a new car, I didn't have much chance at all! But I have booked another test - I'm not giving up! The examiner was a proper bitch about it, really rubbed it in - it appears all the instructors hate her cos she always does it - so now I need to pass to prove her wrong!
My birthday was pretty good (Wednesday last week). Woke up feeling mardy cos I was still annoyed about failing my driving test the day before and I didn't want to go to work but it was actually all good. I got a massive bottle of vodka from my boss and his business partner took us out to lunch. He put some cash in my birthday card - very much unexpected but very appreciated! Sean took me out for dinner in the evening so a lot of eating occurred - yes I troughed! He got me tickets to see Bill Bailey at the ice arena (WOOOO!), a really cool design book and a graphic novel. I got mostly cash from everyone else - think I'm going to buy myself a lovely flat screen monitor for my PC.
We went out on Saturday to celebrate, part my birthday, part Laura's friend Tom's birthday. Laura made us a massive cake - very yummy! Nearly everyone I invited came along and it was a good night. Had lots of drinks in Seed and Claire's flat first then went to Wax. Good plan cos they do 2 cocktails for £5 - including white russians, my favourite!
Work's been going well. Andy, my boss, went on holiday for a week a couple of weeks ago, leaving me to run everything. YES me in charge - wooah! But actually it went fine and all the clients are happy. My birthday was also my 3 month review. It went really well and he's got no problems with me at all so I got a pay rise - what a cool birthday present!
I'm feeling quite very smug because Penny is leaving Oxygen, my old work. Penny started working there a few months before me so now they have none of the original staff and have lost all three designers - in just 7 months. As far as I'm aware they only have Amy, my replacement so she's only been there 3 months - the poor girl's going to have her work cut out!
I'm moving in with Sean on 30th June! After a bit of hassle with landlords being crap doing references it appears to be all go. We've found a really nice 3 bedroom house in Forest Fields, 3 streets from where Sean is now. We figured we've got loads of stuff so we need a bedroom bedroom, a rock room for Sean to put all his instruments and recording stuff in and an artists studio for me. and it's got a big square kitchen - good for creating culinary delights and having parties in! AND there's in a little garden for us to have barbeques and parties in! The plan is to rent for a year or so then buy somewhere together.
Been to a few gigs recently - 65daysofstatic and Isis at Rock City - both ace. Was really good to see 65 again. I don't like the new album as much but I think it's better live. And the old stuff is always going to go down well. I hadn't seen Isis before but they were good. They played pretty much only the new stuff but it was all very tight and fantastic.
And it's Glastonbury next week! Don't think the weather is going to be amazing but I'm gonna have fun anyway. I've got the whole week and Monday and Tuesday the following week off so very much looking forward to lots of time off work.
After that - Converge at Rock City on 4th July! Very excited. Haven't seen them before either. Ooooo it could be very very dirty and lovely!
I'm gonna go before my fingers fall off from too much typing!
