...well i think!
i got on well with alison (she's head of design) and there were no awkward silences. i seemed to answer all the questions correctly and she liked my portfolio. she has also been to Delilah which helps (deli/cafe near the side entrance of the broadmarsh i've done all of the design for) which was a good talking point earlier on in the interview!
the actual role is this:
be the ONLY graphic designer for playboy womenswear and menswear. they have lots of work on so they're going to get a student in on a placement year to help out the successful applicant - A MINION!! and if it goes well - MANY MINIONS!! i'd have to get quotes from printers, take the brief from the person above me, work from start to print ready artwork, get it sent off to print, check the printed product then get it to whoever needs it next.
i've already done all of this where i am now and when i worked in leicester except for the print quotes bit but thats not hard and i already know about different papers etc.
she asked how much my current salary is and i said my total package is £18K... i dont think its worth that much but thats how much my boss said it was when he was justifying my small salary in april... also it includes a bonus which hasnt appeared but thats not the point... anyway she correctely presumed i'd want more than that and she said they can definately afford it so that's good!
if i get through to the next interview i'll be set a project which will be t-shirt design. i think:
FUN!!!
she'd already showed me some designs they'd got a freelancer to do and they were really cool.
usually the projects potential employers set are quite hard but this one will be fun if i do go through to the next round!
she did say she'd already seen lots of other people with good portfolios, hence the project.
i think she was impressed with me but not sure how much i stand out from the crowd. she did say i was the only girl she'd interview that wore a skirt and that impressed her so thats always good - also cos its red to co-ordinate with my CV!
she's on hol next week so i wont hear til the week after. i've read that its good to write a letter after you've been interviewed cos not many people do it and it makes you stand out. so at the risk of being a bit brown nose i think i will send a letter.
ooo its all exciting! i actually really really want this job now - it could be the ultimate next step in my career
