Sunday night I watched Disney's Sleeping beauty. I haven't watched that movie since I was eight. Anyway, when the "Once upon a Dream" song came on I started crying! I was just really moved by the song for some reason. The soprano's voice was sooo beautiful, and when she sang higher notes I felt it all over. It was wierd. I really like that movie now.

If you haven't seen it in a long time, you should watch it. I was surprised by the animation style. Disney drew stuff all weird in the 70s. Like, they use white lines to outline stuff instead of black, and all of the outlines are really thin so that everything looks kind of like a paper cutout. Nowdays people are doing the exact opposite with heavy cell shading and all. I think Sleeping Beauty may inspire me to outgrow my Art Nouveau phase. Anyway, I noticed that Marry Poppins uses that same wierd drawing style. Like the most obvious thing is that they make everyone look British and the horses are fat with very narrow muzzles.

Last night I dreamed that I witnessed someone being run over by a car. It was very vivid. I hardly ever remember dreams, but I remember this one. This man in his 30s summersaulted out of the driving path of one car only to be hit by another. I guess he played a lot of sports and was good at rolling off falls, so he used that technique to dodge the first car. His pride in his own agility made him overconfident, and then he got struck by the second car. He screamed and fell, and the car crushed his abdomen.

I was watching all this from the porch of my house (I lived in a house in this dream). As soon as the guy screamed I ran inside and called 911. But the 911 operator said that they had already been called in about the accident. Then he wanted to pass time by having a conversation with me. He was telling me about the victim's history: how he left his wife, etc. I began to grow suspicious of the 911 operator. Then I woke up.

I know where my dream came from. Philip's friend is a camera man for the Wisconsin news or something like that (I probably got the state wrong). Anyway, recently he had to film the body of an 8 year old boy that got hit by a car. It was a hit and run. He was very disturbed by the whole thing, of course. Being a news camera man is a tough job.

It sickens me to think that my dream actually happened, but to an 8 year old. And it happens to animals all the time. I wish, I wish, I wish violence didn't exist. I've been googling images of animals recently so that I can draw them. But of course on web searches I inevitably pull up a lot of pictures I really don't want to see. Lots of mutilated lab animals. Really miserable looking monkeys locked up in small cages with much injury done to them. I won't go into details on what I saw because it's too disturbing.

All that makes me feel bad for having been such a lax vegan. Some apes have the intelligence of a three year old. I don't want to be responsible for making three year olds suffer if I can help it. :(

Oh, there is this horrible, horrible website called www.mydeadpet.com. People like that make me think Hell is not so an unreasonable idea.
