Self publishing

Oct 15, 2016 08:10

I ran a promotion of one of my books last week and it's going really well. I've sold 800 copies in two weeks. So far in October, I've made about $800.

I'm realizing how lucrative self-publishing can be. It's not quite "quit your day job" kind of money, but not bad. On months when I run a promotion, I usually make about $2000. On months when I don't, I make at least $1000. I've probably already made over $20,000 in 2016. And I still got a lot more going on for the next two months.

I genuinely think that if I put everything I had into this, it really could be "quit your day job" kind of money. But since I do have a day job that I don't want to quit, I'm not pushing as hard as I could.

One thing that surprises me is that writing doesn'tnecessarily have to be good to sell books. You just have to have a lot of it. But I'm not willing to put something out but I don't think it's well written.
