And, because I am a loser like that a kind and benevolent writer who is about ready to kill her internal editor excited about her work, one more excerpt from this jumbled mess of a story that may never see the light of day outside of these brief excerpts my story...which still happens to need a name. Huh.

Mercutio must have caught his concern, as she shifted her arm to press a little more closely to his side. Employing yet another imperceptible gesture (perfect for public places), she pressed her index, middle, and ring finger one after the other into one of his ribs, one after the other. It was a familiar movement on her part, a reassurance and a code between the two of them where each finger served as an individual reminder.

I am here. I am with you. I am yours.

Seeing as their arms were interlocked, it was easy for him to return the gesture.

"And if you forget that," she said, "I have no idea what I will do with you."

No, he determined. He would leave it be.
