I've made it through my first week. It's a shortened one here, oddly enough. It means I get a four day weekend though (thanks to Labour Day) so I'm not going to complain.
As for the actual work though, it's great. My grade twelves are amazing. They're chatty, friendly, and had some awesome ideas about what they want to cook for Foods and Nutrition. We're going to start with waffles -- whole wheat waffles prepared with applesauce instead of sugar, and good ol' blueberry waffles -- and move on from there.
My grade nines, while challenging, are coming along. I'm rather fond of them in a weird way. The same goes for the grade eights. Both groups drive me batty even though I like working with them. They all stated that they wanted to do a lot of discussion in class. Awesome! I love discussion! Of course, when I try to initiate it, no-one wants to talk.
I carry on though! I will continue with the liberal application of direct questions, leading questions, and the like. BY GOD THEY WILL DISCUSS AND DEBATE LIKE MOFOS BY THE TIME I AM DONE.
...though the nines surprised me when they asked if we could do the poetry unit first, and if we could study different kinds of poetry from all over the world. Tears. Joy. Me.
The point is that I made it, and I'm still LIKE A BOSS.
There is only one response to a week such as this.
90S BINGE.
I have the NKOTBSB concert film prepped and ready to go, because BOY BANDS. There's some pizza pops in my freezer that I picked up on my way home from work today. I've got "10 Things I Hate About You" sitting on my DVD player. I may throw in "She's All That". I'm pretty sure the only thing that would make this even more 90s is a bottle of Sunny D.
Lesson planning is a thing for Sunday and Monday. For now? I BINGE.
the dork is strong with this one,
that's miss o'leary to you,
