Today is 'scare the noobs' day for the Education program on campus.
Okay, okay. Technically, it's a pre-orientation. Their honest-to-goodness orientation comes in August. What happens today is that our current class, who has all but finished save for some paperwork, and next year's class all get together and talk shop for a couple hours. The current

ZOMG. ZOMG. The latest for them? Where she punches him out and he actually kisses her of his own free will and says "I love you" and she's left with no real clue about what the hell to think? How screwed up and beautiful is that?
(Frick. I am so weak for fictional sociopaths. I actually considered ordering the figurines of them that are now available just because.)
I'm just hoping that they come out the other side of the 'Relationshipocalypse' relatively intact. Their dysfunction is too precious and too awesome to lose. Hell, how many of his secrets does she now know? And like that solider said, Mike never does anything he doesn't want to...though not for the reasons you'd expect. Though I butchered the last part of that quote since I can't find that strip in the archives. Argh. Point being I LOVE THEM BOTH.
Though I am concerned about this kicking of Amber out of the house and what this is going to mean.
Plus, Ethan and Drew. Adorable/Very Adorable/SO FRIGGING ADORABLE? And have you noticed that the coffee shop they've visited is the coffee shop from "Questionable Content"? I gleed a little more than I probably should have at that.
DO! Do check it out! It's a work of brilliance by someone who clearly knows and loves classic lit but has this amazingly snarky sense of humour about it.

That moment is wonderful as is the moment when she first discovers Mike's deep, dark secret (that he's the nicest person in the world when he's drunk). I also love the moments where he beats up people for her, like when he kicks the ladder over on a customer for her. Got to love the dysfunctional relationships.
I did indeed notice the coffee shop, even though it's been forever since I've read "Questionable Content" - I should really catch up with that one sometime when I have spare time again.

The whole blackmail slowly, slowly turning into a dysfunctional relationship was so well executed, and I am so thrilled to have rediscovered "Shortpacked". I'm excited to see where it all goes...specifically Amber and Mike. I remember laughing out loud at the strip where he's at his other work, drunk like a skunk as as such so very nice, and apologizing for the fact he's going to have to kick her ass later.
Questionable Content's Art has only gotten better and better, and the cast has just gotten more and more well-written. Jeph Jaques' writing and general comic timing have improved SO MUCH, and I'm so proud of him even though I don't even know him. I'd say it's worth catching up on, for sure.
