So, class got out at noon today.
My bus stop is right by what I affectionately refer to as my 'watering hole'; a little hole in the wall coffee shop where the staff knows me well enough that they just start making a cafe au lait as soon as they see me coming in. I popped in today with the intent to caffeinate.
(I know, I know. Afternoon jolts bad, we've already had this conversation, shame on Percy. Haven't given up that search for yerba mate though, Airo. Still asking around.)
Seeing as I had two chapters of my dumbass science textbook to get through though -- my dumbass can't-make-it-through-a-chapter-without-honest-to-goodness-falling-asleep textbook -- I figured I could be excused, if only for today
I got home and started reading the textbook while finishing my coffee. Precisely half-way through the chapter, l felt myself nodding off. After freaking COFFEE. I therefore said SCREW IT, went upstairs, grabbed one of the bigass mugs, and made myself a cup of strong black tea.
I am halfway through said bigass mug of tea, finished one of two chapters, and still nodding off.
I am resorting to reading the textbook out loud. It's coming out in a ridiculous, over the top Southern accent, sliding in to some breed of British at points -- the transition between the two is quite possibly the most offensive thing my ears have ever heard, and I've worked retail in the flipping MALL during the Christmas season for the past three years -- and I fear that somewhere between reading about teaching science through inquiry, the caffeine, and the still being half-asleep, I may be losing my sanity.
Help? I think?
ETA:
Had Joe drive me down to the local comic shop to ignore my dumb books to pick up the secret Santa gift for my work party tonight. My person is easy to buy for. Anything/everything Phoenix and he'll be in love. On my way to the till I found the first three TPBs of Marvel Max's 'Alias'. Now, a while back,
Katt linked me to this (NSFW). My curiosity was officially piqued, and I began to look for the series. Coming across the first three volumes of it in one place at one time was glee-inducing, and that's not even the best part.
If I were to have bought the three of them at cover price, I would have ended up paying over 81 dollars before tax.
The TPBs were on sale. Like, SALE sale. As in for 25 bucks, I could own all three.
It was not a hard call to make.
'Scuse me. Gonna go cuddle my new books for a while. And continue to ignore my dumb textbooks.
