And there in is the crux of the problem... I actually haven't read not even one panel of any Tsubasa Chronicle manga. I just watched the anime and even that was kinda ages ago.

I guess this is where you tell me I'm missing out and should go to manga hut or what not and go read?

But, yes, I would suggest you read. It's not like it's a chore. It IS a CLAMP series; so it's more like me asking you to enjoy yourself with depth.

You're probably right. I'll get to reading it and save the joyous discoveries of its twists and turns there; I retract my question.

I wouldn't be able to truly appreciate it unless I had the background story, I suppose.

I'm very happy you like this! The whole story behind the icon comes from more recent chapters of Tsubasa. the best thing it to go to onemanga.com and read the whole story. Long story short, Fai lost an eye and Kuro an arm... The icon was made especially for me by iambickilometer in reference to a story I wrote way back when I first read chapter 167 that you can find here. Does that help you?
