PICTURE POST!

Mar 18, 2005 23:33

As promised, though certainly not within the expected time frame, here are some pictures of my new desk and stuff.

This pic pretty much captures the essence of what I love about this desk. There is a whole
bunch of desk space, for one thing. The light casts really awesome shadows. Everything has
a place, and none of it is cluttered. My phone and my keys are always easy to find. The
popsicle stick box I built a decade ago finally found a good use by holding peppermint Life Savers.
The desktop display shows Sarenia in Myst IV. :-D

Here's an alternate view, showing part of the cabinets, the awesome lighting, and the area
where I do my homework. Or rather, the area where I put my books until the next time I have
to take them to class.

This one shows the left half of the desk, complete with the CD rack that's holding the entirety of
my physical music collection. Haha, how sad is that. Mom says the lava lamp is out of place
with the rest of the yuppie look, but whatever...I like it there. You can also see the blue LCD
front panel display on my desktop case, which tends to have a very cool effect when all the
other lights are off.

Alternate view of the shot above, different exposure. This is the best one to see the two-tone
cabinet frame/door coloring.

Remember all those floppies and software boxes from an earlier post? The contents ended up
here, in all of the CD cases you see on the right of the cabinet. 300+ CDs, organized by major
category (OS media, Drivers, Games, Applications, Pictures/Video/Audio recordings).

And of course, IKEA's cool retro wire mesh trash can, $5 from the store. Trash not included.

Although this is completely unrelated to my desk, except for the fact that it's on top of it,
I just thought I would share my Calculus class fun. This shows that it doesn't always pay to
attempt to work ahead of the teacher during example problems. All of my math is perfect.
However, the formula for the volume of a cone is NOT "V = (1/3)pi * r^3 * h", it's
"V = (1/3)pi * r^2 * h". Only at the end did I discover my fatal mistake. Yes, that whole
thing is a single calc problem.

So yes. Anyway. It's raining here, and I'm feeling very warm and cozy in my warm room...I'll probably be here for another couple of hours.
