So I've been in Riga for a couple of days now, it's pretty nice (I still like Tallinn better though). Yesterday we went up to a house that one of our professors in Halifax owns...SO NICE. It's in one of the most beautiful parts of the city where alot of the buildings are Art Nouveau, the architect of alot of them being the father of Sergei Eisenstein (the famous Russian film director). Today Meaghan and I hit up the Occupation Museum, which made me realize how little I know of Latvian history. The museum itself is not very big, but it took us almost three hours to go through it all and read everything...both of us were fascinated by the things that were in there. We leave here tomorrow, taking the bus back to St. Petersburg...which will take us a good 12-13 hours. It's too bad we can't transport the place we've been staying back home, we're in a hostel, but we've had our "room" (a.k.a. APARTMENT) to ourselves the whole time! It was all newly renovated and we still only paid 70 Ls for two of us for three nights (@ $150). That's about all until I get back to Petrograd, hopefully we don't have any problems getting back in (we shouldn't since they didn't take our migration cards from us when we left...thank god!)
