Fattist Logic Fail: Do books encourage shrewishness?
Fattist Logic Fail #1: Fat women are ugly and don't deserve nice clothes.
Recent articles about the death of plus size clothing options have been all over the fat-o-sphere lately, and I was again stunned by the fashion industry's logic fail: "Fat women don't buy pretty plus-size clothing, so we'll just stop making it."
I really don't have too much to say about this other than what other fats have said, namely "We don't buy pretty plus-size clothes because you're not making them, assholes!"
This did, however, remind me of another Fattist Logic Fail, let's call it #2: "Readily available plus sized clothing encourages fatness."
(I don't make this shit up.)
I hope the logic fail is evident to most rational human beings. If not, let me make some analogies.
"Cute maternity clothing encourages teen pregnancy."
"Camouflage clothing encourages hunting."
"Clothing with fairies on it encourages homosexuality."
"Clothing with teddy bears on it encourages anthropomorphic sexual fetishes."
Oooo, here's a good one! "Sexy women's clothing encourages rape." Victim blaming FTW!
