"Fuck, push me higher!"
"Sure thing, Sweet Pea!"
The sound of laughter was refreshing. Spencer could feel the wind pull at her hair, left free and flying through the wind. Jamie Lynn pushed her higher, her grin as wide as Spencer could ever imagine. Jamie Lynn had never been out in the yards, not without the nurse keeping watch at least. It was a feeling of freedom that she never experienced.
Jamie Lynn had a problem with disappearing out of her room and ending up in a whole new state every couple of months. Those months without Jamie Lynn made Spencer's life hell. But when Jamie came back, fighting and kicking, and screaming... She always brought something back for her.
Finally, the swing stopped. Jamie had the chains firmly grasped, halting the swing so Spencer could get off. "Have fun, Sweet Pea?" Jamie grinned down at her, that wide and sparkly grin. It was times like this, with a grin that was part devious and part psychotic, that Spencer thought that maybe, just maybe, Jamie could pass as a normal person.
But they'd never let her out. Girls like Jamie Lynn and Spencer - Sweet Pea she corrects without fault - never get out. "'Course I did, Jay." Spencer smiled up at Jamie, and got off of the swing, turning and hugging Jamie quietly. She felt a very light, almost non-existent kiss on the top of her head, and grinned.
"Girls, it's time to come in!"
"I hate that nurse." Spencer mumbled into Jamie's shoulder, hugging her tighter. They'd part them, like always. Didn’t they see? Couldn't they see that Jamie and Spencer were better together? No. They only wanted to see what they chose to. Jamie and Spencer, however, could see all they wanted to, because they were crazy. If they wanted the sky to be purple, then damn it, it was purple.
"See those green clouds, Sweet Pea?" Like now. Spencer turned her head up, and grinned slowly, the clouds turning from white and fluffy to big green balls of yarn in her eyes. "They'll rain acid all over that bitch." Jamie explained, with a contemplative tone.
"Girls!"
"It doesn’t look like rain, Jamie." Spencer frowned a little at the cloud of green yarn, willing it to fill with acid and rain all over the nurse.
"Girls!"
Jamie grinned slowly and leaned down, kissing Spencer lightly. "Oh, it will, Sweet Pea. Give it time." Jamie promised, those usually blank eyes alive and dancing. Jamie had the prettiest eyes in the world, Spencer had decided long ago. Such a deep and bottomless shade of black. Spencer sometimes wished that she could take those eyes as her own, replace her dull and lifeless blue ones.
Spencer nodded to Jamie quietly, and kissed her again, sighing. "I don't want to go to my room." She mumbled, already starting back inside with the nurse and Jamie.
It was almost a week before Spencer saw Jamie again, and Jamie had that haunted look that screamed solitary confinement. But when Jamie saw Spencer sitting in front of the TV, biting on her nails that weren’t even there and watching a Wheel of Fortune rerun, her eyes lit up, and she rushed over, flipping over the couch next to her. "Hiya, Sweet Pea!"
Spencer looked over, and smiled a little. This wasn't unusual. "Hi, Jamie." She muttered, shifting and curling into Jamie's side, eyes back on the Wheel of Fortune rerun for a couple minutes. Then Spencer glanced up, and turned Jamie’s head down, kissing her lightly. "Haven't seen Laurie in about a week."
"Guess it rained."
They kissed, the kiss smothering their laughter.
