(no subject)
hello everyone! long-time lurker, first-time poster, blah blah blah. so i have little over a year before i turn legal and i have my heart set on getting a literary wrist tattoo (or two) as a present for myself (i know, i know, i'm getting ahead of myself but i want to be prepared), but i have a few dilemmas.
1) i've heard wrist tattoos hurt like a bitch, true or false? i detest needles and pain, so idk if i could really go with a wrist tat or not. but it's really the only place i can imagine myself having a tattoo.
2) I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WANT. i've sort of narrowed it down to:
a) the world has moved on. or first comes smiles, then lies. last is gunfire. from the dark tower series by stephen king. i really love the second one, but i don't think that would fit on one wrist, and i wouldn't want to split it up. this series really helped me last year, it was an anchor for me while i was having a hard time with my family so i'd love to get it somehow put on my body. i think the first quote goes with what i went through, but i really do like the second one.
b) there could be love. from the giver, although all of my friends think this is a really depressing quote. i, on the other hand, think of it as having hope for the future.
c) always. from harry potter. it's from chapter 33 when dumbledore asks snape if he's come to care for harry and snape sort of explodes and says no and shows dumbledore his patronus (which is a doe, of course) and dumbledore asks, 'after all this time?' with tears in his eyes and snape says, 'always.' i really bawled during that bit and snape was carted up to my favorite character and it's such a powerful statement, idk. i've also toyed with the idea of having a doe somewhere around the word always.
d) last, but certainly not least, is a lyric from one of the hush sound's songs. i've been leaning towards these rules are made to break on one wrist and these walls are built to fall on the other but idk, it's pretty long. i also love you painted me in pastel because pretty much everyone who meets me automatically assumes that i'm antisocial and boring and weak because i'm quiet when i meet new people.
3) font ideas and sizes would also be nice! i think some sort of typewriter font for a) and b) but idk about the others.
