My William Butler Yeats inspired tattoo...

Hello all!
I just wanted to post a picture of my literary tattoo. I have had it for almost two years, and it is my favorite of all five tattoos. (Well....it also takes up 85% of my back, so majority rules)

I have always been a fan of Yeat's poetry, ever since I was a baby. My father used to read his poetry to me as a child. Around age 13, I absolutely fell in love with his poem "The Mermaid".

12 years later I got it tattooed on my back. Ha ha.

I know the piture is crude, but it is honostly incredibly hard to get a shot of your own back. I will try to post updated pitures. I added some sea-weed on the right to fill in that space. It look 4 sittings and about 6 hours to complete it. The work is by Erik Desmond of Horifudo. He currently owns 75% of my upper body.

The text says "Forgot in cruel happiness that even lovers drown", as there was no way to fit the whole poem in a managable way.

Here is the whole poem:

"The Mermaid"
A mermaid found a swimming lad,
Picked him for her own,
Pressed her body to his body,
Laughed; and plunging down
Forgot in cruel happiness
That even lovers drown.

Thanks for checking out my lit ink!

(Oh and to make it even dorkier, I am an English teacher)
