Hi, I've only recently discovered this community...you guys all really have the most awsome tattoos (and ideas)!
I'm planning on getting my first tattoo in April, but I still haven't been able to decide on a quote (although I've been thinking about quotes I like for about a year now ^^ ). I want to get a quote by Shelley, preferably from my favourite work of his, "Prometheus Unbound". Here are my ideas:
"The loathsome mask has fallen, the man remains
Sceptreless, free, uncircumscribed, but man
Equal, unclassed, tribeless, and nationless,
Exempt from awe, worship, degree, the king
Over himself; just, gentle, wise: but man
Passionless? - no, yet, free from guilt or pain,
Which were, for his will made or suffering them,
Nor yet exempt, though ruling them like slaves,
From chance, and death, and mutability,
The clogs of that which else might oversoar
The loftiest star of unascended heaven,
Pinnacled dim in the intense inane."
As for placement, I want the tattoo to be on my lower inner arm, but I'm open to any suggestions ;)
I really like "equal, unclassed, tribeless, nationless", but it kinda seems to me that if I were to put those words one underneath the other, the word "equal" just wouldn't fit in so well, so I might just get "Unclassed, Tribeless, Nationless"....what do you think?
I'm also at a loss concerning the font. I love all the typewriter fonts, but they just wouldn't fit with a poet of romanticism. Do you know any nice fonts that would fit?
Thank you so much for your input!!!
