Thank Goodness It's Payday! Mom watched a PBS special, wanted to buy the book so we went to both Borders and Barnes & Noble to find it. Glad we checked both because she found it for 30% off which meant I didn't have to feel guilty about the two writing books I picked up for myself.
One is called "Story Structure Architect: A writer's guide to building dramatic situations & compelling characters." The other sounds promising in other ways "Breathing Life Into Your Characters: How to give your characters emotional & psychological depth." In re-reading some of my favorite stories I've noticed they are ones that have strong characters and story development. In looking at my own work I can see those along with planning are not my strongest suits. So I'm reading up to see if I can improve those areas and others.
Watched the uncut version of "Quigley Down Under" there were a bunch of scenes that they cut or edited that really added to the story so it made more sense. A good reminder that less isn't always best.
