[OOC] Character Information v. 02

Feb 12, 2009 14:25

Player Name: Nikki
Character Name: Gokudera Hayato
Character Age: 24
Any changes to your character's appearance?: No change from TYL!canon aside from the lack of dynamites in his person. He has a collection of highlighters, pens and markers in his pockets, ready to edit anything that he thinks is off or erratic.

Type of change: Minor.

Company: Vongola and Associates

Position: Creative Director (Product Development)

Skills and Abilities: Despite his turbulent moods, Gokudera exudes a serious and dedicated air when it comes to work. He is organized, systematic and strict when it comes to deadlines. He can skip sleep for 72 hours if it meant finishing all his paperwork and submitting to the press on time. He has the tendency to terrorize his staff, either by planting dynamites under their windows or kicking their tables, but he would help them as much as he could -- sometimes even embracing some of the editing jobs himself. His lack of tact, social abilities and popularity are replaced by bookish and scientific intellect.

He can also play the piano, do simple magic tricks, scare off people, and make homemade dynamites, some of which strong enough to destroy half a room (or a person, if placed very near them). He can also swear in different languages (though he isn't fluent in anything aside from Italian, Japanese and English).

Most of all, he is overwhelmingly loyal and dedicated to the company, especially to the Vongola Decimo.

Updated History: (some changes in family history, major change in how he entered Vongola, no changes in present status).

Gokudera was the child of a powerful man and his mistress. His mother was banished from the city a few months after he was born, and he was made to live his in father's house with his half-sister Bianchi and stepmother. His stepmother did not like him one bit, and he only found solace in his sister Bianchi, who tried to comfort him in every way she could. She'd pamper him with a lot of food, sometimes to the point of force-feeding him, and Gokudera had a lingering feeling that Bianchi did not manage to have her own group of friends because she was busy tending to him. Still, his sister's affection did not stop painful events in Gokudera's life. Soon, he drifted away from his sister, her overly affectionate nature slowly became an annoyance to him.

Even though he was told to be quite a genius at a young age, Gokudera was not satisfied. After all, what was the use of being a genius if people still called him the "unwanted child" behind his back? He felt a great need to prove himself -- that he was an equal to any of his father's children. He spent his school days poring over books, perfecting his piano skills and ignoring anyone. He grew up to be a perfectionist, not willing to admit defeat or second place in anything. He became antisocial, not trusting anyone and living in his own world where only he and his dreams exist.

When he was in senior high, he developed a penchant for writing. He wrote about a lot of things, turning his writing to an outlet of his pent-up emotions and as a weapon to those people who try to oppress him because he's an adulteress' son, because he's a goddamn prick, or because his answer to algebra question number 5 was wrong. He continued writing snippets of fiction and his autobiography all the way to university, where he found creative writing to be a challenge to his almost photographic memory and objective mind.

After graduating from one of the finest universities in Milan, Gokudera was summoned by his father and was coerced to enter his father's company -- a newspaper publication company. Not wanting to be controlled by his father behind the excuse of "grooming" him for leading the company, Gokudera left home and did odd jobs, not earning much money and satisfaction. He'd write short stories or articles for various publications here and there and one day, he was scouted by a large publishing company: the Vongola and Associates.

Gokudera was personally interviewed by the then-company president: Vongola IX, who had heard of his escapades in both school and his former jobs. Amazed that the books he had read and pored over when he was young were published by V&A themselves, he agreed to be placed in V&A's book development section, where he learned the ins and outs of producing quality reading materials.

Just when he was about to be promoted to be an associate editor in the non-fiction department, he was summoned. The V&A were to relocate to Namimori, Japan and he, Gokudera, was asked to be the head of the product development department there. It was explained to him that since the new CEO would be taking over in Namimori, it was imperative that someone who had knowledge of how things ran in Italy would be transferred there to give the new CEO a hand. Gokudera, who was the youngest and most flexible among the chief editors, was the perfect candidate for transfer.

At first, Gokudera did not want to be transferred. He rarely worked the "Italian way", but he did not want to leave the easygoing and familiar pace of his workplace to end up in a place where he did not know how things should be done. Still, his hesitation to accompany Vongola in its move to Namimori faded when he met with the future CEO: Sawada Tsunayoshi.

Sawada Tsunayoshi was a spineless young man, was what Gokudera first thought. However, spending time with the new CEO and talking about business over coffee, Gokudera learned to appreciate the things that made Tsuna an able CEO: the gentle eyes that looked over things with dignity but with consideration; the small hands that tried to hold everything, even those who didn't want to be within his reach; the small fire of determination in his eyes.

Gokudera decided to help this young man maintain the company -- or as Tsuna puts it, the family -- and stay in Namimori. He wanted to see for himself how the young CEO would rise above everyone else; he wanted to be a part of this person's success.

In V&A in Namimori, Gokudera's job as associate editor was not hard, but time consuming. He spent a lot of time arguing with his editors and writers and attending social events he'd rather skip if it wasn't for the boss (Tsuna). Sometimes, he'd be so exasperated that he wanted to destroy his desk, but the boss would then visit with a smile and warm eyes and Gokudera's anger would melt away as he remembered the things he had sworn to do.

There was only one thing in his mind, to please the boss. He was sure that he treasured the boss as a close friend and would do anything for him, but recently, he'd been confused on what his real feelings are. He'd spent nights thinking about the time spent with the boss and why he behaved like such during those times. Until now, he's still thinking -- confused about his feelings and wondering why things are unfolding out this way. There were also other things, but he is still keeping them to himself...for now.

On his family: Gokudera never told anyone where he worked specifically, but maybe he accidentally told Shamal about working for a big publication company. Before leaving for Namimori, he asked the people remaining in the satellite office to not tell anyone where he was transferred to, no matter what the circumstances are. They are only to tell people looking for him that he had moved on, never to be seen again. Luckily, it seemed that no one was able to know where he was...yet.
