Create a glossary of terms associated with your character. This can either be done meta-ly, or in character. What knowledge should we have in order to understand your character's story?
A&R: Stands for "Artists & Repertoire." In the music industry, this is who is in charge of being the liason between the musician and the higher-ups (Executives and so on). James' A&R is John Hammond, who is actually a real person and a well-known A&R. I randomly chose it without really considering labels or anything.
Andy Longbottom: One of J's best friends. He was the best man in Andy's wedding. They had a very rough start due to a twisted kind of situation involving Andy, J, and Andy's then-girlfriend (now wife), Lauren. Since then, they've only grown closer and J considers Andy to be his long-lost brother. They call each other "Bromates."
Ava Jordan: This is James' current girlfriend. They dated over two years ago, when he was a Senior in college and then a first-year Grad student. They broke up because she found her in bed with someone he had once considered a friend. Their reunion was unplanned and completely sporadic and actually grew out of the fact that I asked a friend to just play her for a prompt I was writing. I didn't expect them to start up a relationship again, but it just goes to show how little control I really have over J.
Beverly Hills: James' most recent city of residence. He bought a too-large house here after the death of his friend and housemate, Z, in early January. He doesn't really like most of the city in terms of the people, but he loves his house because of the seclusion it provides.
Bijan: J's favorite store in Beverly Hills. Almost all of his clothes comes from here. It's also the name of the man who opened it, and J will refer to both, so context is important.
Blackboard Verse: One of J's verses with Bryce!Mun where J is still in NYC and teaching at Cathedral.
Cathedral High School: Back in NYC, J taught English classes to the seniors at Cathedral. He loathed the school, mainly for its strict rules and the faculty made up primarily of nuns. He left after only a year of teaching there.
Central Park South: Where J and his father used to live in NYC.
Dodger: One of J's dogs (Golden Retriever). He's still a puppy, but getting older. Named by J's best friend, Andy, he is the sweeter and calmer of the two dogs. J is trying very hard to keep some of Ollie's (see later definition) bad habits from wearing off on the young pup.
Farah Barke: One of J's best friends. They share a very complicated history with each other, but at the end of the day, they love each other as much as two friends possibly can. She was the reason he decided to leave New York and move to California last year.
Fender: J's guitar of choice.
James Carlisle, Jr.: James' father.
Jeff Hunters: J's best friend growing up. They've known each other since they were only babies. He owns Tao, a restaurant-by-day and club-by-night in New York City. They don't talk as often as they used to, simply due to life, but Jeff helped out with a lot of the music on J's debut album. He knows that Jeff's got his back if he ever needed him.
Jennifer Keller: J's last girlfriend before Ava. The breakup was very messy and very emotional. She was the first person he ever really loved enough to be in a relationship with after splitting from Farah. They dated a little under a month before J called it quits due to his inability to cope with Z's murder.
Lauren Longbottom (nee: Order): Andy's wife and J's other best friend. They initially had slept together when Lauren visited New York, back when J was still a teacher. As always, J got his feelings confused and thought he had fallen for her, only to realize that he simply loved her as a friend. A best friend. She kicks his ass when he needs it and he loves her for it.
Malibu: J loves to take the dogs here and go for runs in the early mornings. He also frequents a beach-front cafe and will meet up with friends here often. He spends a lot of his time here if he's not at his house or in the recording studio.
Marie Carlisle (nee: MacDuffy): James' mother, who died when he was 6 years old.
Music and Words Verse: A verse with Farah!Mun where they are still together and J is still in NYC, teaching at Cathedral.
NYC: Otherwise known as "the city" and "Manhattan," though J rarely calls it the latter. This is where he was born and later raised after the age of 6. He considers NYC to be his home, regardless of where his permanent address is.
NYU: J's alma mater for both undergrad and graduate school.
Ollie: The second of J's dogs. Ollie is the Australian Retriever, a little under two years old, who has a chronic humping problem. He's slowly getting better as he matures, though.
ShowUpListenLaugh: The name of J's debut album, released on April 4th.
Sliding Doors Verse: A verse with Lauren!Mun where things didn't end after they slept together last August.
"This Love": J's first single.
Tuscany: Where J's vineyard is. He took ownership of it when he and Z (see later entry) travelled there together, following some personal events with which he struggled. She didn't want to sell it to a stranger, and so he offered to buy it from her. She didn't want to take his money, so he only paid for the legal fees to get the paperwork drawn up and the lawyer fees. He knows nothing about owning a vineyard and employs many people to take care of it for him.
Z: Otherwise known as "Zee." J's housemate when he was living in Los Angeles. There were complicated feelings between the two of them, for which J felt very guilty following her murder. Her death is what caused J to experience a somewhat severe depression, a consequent of which was passing out from dehydration.
OOC: If I forgot anything, let me know!
