Just sent to Obama...

My small business NEEDS the Public Option. We spend almost $1000/month for wretched, scammy coverage from Blue Shield. We have huge deductibles, and they deny services and prescriptions constantly. It is EVIL, and I worked very hard on your campaign because I had faith you'd follow through. I am 42 years old -- and I am SMART enough to know that ( Read more... )

Problem is, even if the public option had passed, the Democrats admitted the premiums were going to be even higher than those charged in the so-called "private" insurance market...and those are going to be outrageous as well. Estimated premiums will be about $5,300/year/individual and $15,000/year/family, in addition to deductibles of $5,000/year and $10,000/year respectively before the "insurance" even pays out.

This whole bill is a clusterfuck that is going to hurt uninsured people like me even more than we're being hurt now. I can't afford those outrageous premiums, so I won't be able to buy a policy, just like now. And even WORSE than now, I'll be paying the government a fine for the privilege of being alive (and still not having access to healthcare).

If this bill passes, I'm going to seriously look into moving to Mexico. WTF is so great about this bastard country anymore?

Interesting. I did not think the CBO had numbers like those. OTOH, if it's as draconian as you say, that's possibly actually a silver lining, because it will force people to make a fuss and things can be modified sooner rather than later. I sometimes feel like I am the ONLY person calling and writing to government officials, and everyone else is sitting around watching stupid reality TV shows and drooling! (And I'm Canadian!)

Anyway, if you are moving, move to Ontario. That's my home province and medical care is great. My mom lived through 30-odd years of cancer, and was well cared for, and even OWNED A HOUSE. That shit's almost impossible here in California.

Happy New Year!
