it is just that my feelings are about sports

Higginsface to Vancouver! How excited am I, oh man, there will surely be time to take this apart further when he is loved, sucks to be you Florida.

l to r: waived, traded, free agent, traded. Watch out, Dwyer, watch out.

Surprisingly, I am sort of bummed Carson is gone. He was a good captain for the Checkers, though I suppose McBain made him less relevant. Still, since Pitkanen is never leaving, it would have been nice to have that depth, for the games after the inevitable injury stemming from twenty-five minutes of ice time, seriously how is that still a thing that is happening. Therefore, fuck you Calgary.

MOTHERFUCK.

fig. one: motherfuck.

EDMONTON - Dustin Penner was immersed in a ping-pong game in the Edmonton Oilers’ locker-room when he was told that he had become a member of the Los Angeles Kings.

At least he didn’t have to pay captain Shawn Horcoff $50 for losing the match. That was the upside.
Oilers ship Penner to Los Angeles
♥ only now it is broken.

This is Edmonton's fault. which makes it worse. That deal for Penner was basically the worst, how can the front office be so dim? Look, we are rebuilding, but there is totally space for a passive-aggressive bitch who scores at will. The point of tanking is to lose more games than anyone else, not to lose all of the games ever. I realize this is a close thing with the Oilers since c.2007, but it's not a fine distinction, it's a big old line that is kind of important to not cross.

That 2009-10 team was so bad in so many ways, and somehow Penner put up great numbers, and still had good underlying stats, and for that, we get...the Kings' worst defensive prospect! Colour me un-fucking-excited. I mean, I always pick the Kings in my bracket, because of, well, all the other former Oilers there. Some of the fans seem sort of entitled, but they draft well and have a nice sweater, so that makes sense.

fig. two: LA is not Edmonton

fig. three: Penner is there now

I would still like the story where the Kings have all sorts of team activities, like bowling and potlucks, all of which are hosted by Smyth or Brown, and everyone wears board shorts and looks up at the sky when a plane passes overhead, climbing higher and faster. And Horcoff texts Penner all evening, asking about what is happening, and how terrible he is at all recreational activities and also what Smyth is doing. (Because, in my head, Horcoff is never as awful about Smyth as 2007 indicated, but they are also both terrible at apologizing.) That would be nice.

Today is Eric Lindros' birthday, and rather than spend the next two hours writing about tragic interpersonal fractures, I think I will start drinking and see if I pass out, making light of concussions being the proper way to observe such an august event.

That and I sent in all my applications today, so I really have no excuses for not being online all of the time in the near future. This and I will shut the fuck up about Patrick Roy.
