I am meant to be writing a chapter on the Union at Kalmar, so of course I am on Livejournal.
It's good stuff, though. I've reformulated the title to "Confessional and Strategic Motivations for Swedish Intervention in the Thirty Years War" as "roads, organisational theologies, military supply and North-West Central Europe," is insufficiently grand. This way I will be able to trick people into attending my presentation because it will sound like military history. Oh wait, no one cares about that anymore.

On careful reflection, I would probably knife someone to attend this, or even get a recording of it. Trevor-Roper! Oh man, the above paper is so close to being written after his essays "The General Crisis of the Seventeenth Century" and "The European Witch-craze of the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries." As history, they are reasonable, not correct, but certainly interesting, but as theory and prose! Those are totally different things, but Trevor-Roper does both really well. Oh man oh man, what fuck.
Plus Ghosh hates me, so that would be fun. "HEY WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT STATISTICS NOW?"
And now an abrupt change in topic and tone: I understand that today is one Capt SP's birthday!
OH IT IS, this is great. Twenty-two on the twenty-second!
