Just saw "Order of the Phoenix."
There was CAPSLOCKY Harry, and many things I loved, and a great many I sort of hated. I cried a lot.
I promised myself I'd stop making stupid posts late at night, but I can't sleep, so I think I'll rec some fic. I have thousands of little rec notes, and it's a good idea to spread the wealth, and whatever. I was looking though my old files, trying to find Sirius/Remus, fine, and I discovered that wow, I read a lot of fic. I figured I'd slowly organize it via lj, and today's fic recs have little bits of chat about the film. Not spoilers, though.
"Right," Severus said noncommittally. "I’m certain it will burn itself out and end in pain and wretched despair, in any case."
"Ah, yes, right. Excellent," Lupin said, considerably cheered.
Third Time's the CharmHarry Potter by
helenishThis is one of my very favorite stories in the whole fandom. It's a wonderful balance between funny and dramatic, and there's enough awkwardness to make it believable, but without being totally horrifying. Snape and Lupin come together, under the auspices of potions, but they stick together. I like how this is still in-character, and they aren't very nice, but they are funny, and appealing. It always makes me laugh, anyway.
Deck The HallsHarry Potter by Laura Smith
Hermione/Ron, at Christmas. I am the least subtle shipper for these two; I really like the idea of them getting together, especially here, where it doesn't significantly change anything. They're just as fun-loving and delightful as always, but with kissing!
FalterHarry Potter by Laura Smith
James comes out to Lily. About Remus! I like how the romance between James and Lily appears here, and how flustered and charming it all is.
Seven Things That Didn't Happen At Hogwarts On Valentine's Day, Or Maybe They DidHarry Potter by
rageprufrockNutty and wacky. I like Mauraders-era fic because it can sustain that mood, even if I feel like a horrible person for saying that. Anyway. This is hilarious, if totally crazy. It also features ugly cards, horrifying moments for Remus, Lily displaying judgment, and the funniest turns-into-a-girl sequence.
Fine With HerHarry Potter by Laura Smith
Hermione gen, being different, or not so much. I like fiction where there's a world beyond the immediate wizarding troubles; there's a reason they're fighting the bad guys, and it's not just because they own stock in soap companies, and Voldemort doesn't wash often enough. This nicely underscores that, with Hermione.
"It's the deepest cut."
"Er, the slitting of my wrists if you don't go away?"
Not Quite UnrequitedHarry Potter by Laura Smith
Fred is so done with all of this. I particularly like the descriptions in this lush little fic. It's nicely ambiguous, and okay, whatever issues I may have with the Weasley twins, they can be pretty charming.

helenish Casey is kinda sluttish, Dan freaks out. I have a secret longing for stories where the fact that Dan goes to therapy is actually addressed, and also ones where Casey is a little screwed-up. I have a good idea about what this says about me, but I am totally ignoring it.
