Diablo II

I'm going to assume that everyone here knows what DIablo II is.

In my quest to entertain myself and keep myself amused until Sims 2
FINALLY comes out on June 2nd, I've been busying myself with old
games. I started off with Zoo Tycoon 2, and I might still go back to
it, poked at Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 for a bit.. it's OK. Not as good
as ZT2.

And I was poking around most of the weekend with an online roleplaying
thingy on Facebook called Hammerfall. Hammerfall is.. cute. Not great,
but cute. The biggest problem, though is that you need to keep making
your 'Guild' increase to play further, which really kinda stinks,
actually. It made me long for a REAL Role Playing Game.

I've been involved in actual ROLE PLAYING for a very very very long
time. Started with GURPS back in eigth grade and quickly moved to AD&D
in 9th grade. I've played a few systems, and by and large, I really
enjoy it (especially with the right GM with a good sense of humor).

But try as I might, I've never found alot of really GOOD roleplaying
games. By which I mean role playing games that don't cost a monthly
subscription fee. I know me and I tend to pick games up and drop them
so I don't want to pay a monthly subscription fee for something I'm
not actually playing.

Truth be told, before everyone yells out "OMG. Diablo II. That's so
old." Such-and-such-a-recent-video-game is SO much better, I'd point
out that my exposure to most RPG gamers has been kinda limited (but if
you want to suggest something that's truly better than Diablo, I'm
listening. Though having tried GuildWars.. meh. (The problem with
GuildWars, I feel, is that you STOP leveling up.) as I'm far more of a
God Gamer/Sim Gamer than everything else. What I like about Diablo II
is the infinite replayability. That there simply is no way, even if
you were to play the same character and try for alot of the same
skills, that you'd play the exact same game. It's simply impossible,
thanks to the random engine inside. The game's still a challenge and
it's great stress relief. Seriously! Go home after a bad day at work,
kill a bunch of zombies and demons.. how does this not make you feel
better?!?!? ;)

I know Diablo III is scheduled to come out.. sometime. All I have to
say, based on what I've seen is.. *droooool* K and I will probably
both get it (our own copies, assuming K has a PC that can run it)
