Yeesh, haven't posted in ages. Guess I've been keeping busy with class, WoW, and reading. I have 20 books lined up for me at the library, lol.
I've been getting way too knowledgeable about MMORPGs. I could talk forever about MMO culture, economy, relationships, psychology, and more. I'm trying to think what kind of research I want to do for my Master's Thesis, and it could well relate to MMORPGs, especially World of Warcraft, since that's the one I've experienced. It's pretty amazing to me how we get caught in a virtual world where we lose but don't suffer, where we can learn many of life's lessons without really being in reality, where some even make a living without leaving the comfort of that chair. Very fascinating, and plenty of research waiting to be conducted. I've been reading Play Money by Julian Dibbell, a journalist who dabbled in selling virtual loot from Ultima Online for real money. It's strange to read about this side of gaming from the point of view of someone who actually dealt in it. I still think it's cheating, since it IS against the Terms of Use and all, but obviously not everyone follows those terms. Still, if you want to know everything about a topic, you learn the dark side of it as well.
I have found that I love the new WoW race of blood elves, even though I know they're pretty popular. They're waaay too anorexic for my taste, but their arrogance and addiction to magic really fascinates me. It's too bad I'm not on a role-playing server. More WoW players should role play. After all, it IS an MMO*RPG*. :-P And it's just plain fun and creative.
I took Psychological Disorders of Children this winter, and the teacher, who looks like a female Mick Jagger, has not yet posted the final grades. I feel confident that I snagged an A. It was a class that I finally felt challenged in. Surprisingly, it was a real relief to HAVE to study for something. My college has proven to be quite boring and simple in my other classes, but this one was actually hard. I'm definitely taking as many classes as I can with the She-Jagger, so my brain will actually be used each semester.
What Battlestar Galactica (2003) Character are You?
You are Commander William "Husker" AdamaCommander William "Husker" Adama is the commanding officer of the Battlestar Galactica. Now, following the death of Admiral Nigala in the initial Cylon attack, he also commands the entire fleet, under the jurisdiction of the President of the 12 Colonies. He is a strong leader, but also a very sensitive and passionate one, willing to take risks to save those he cares about. He is generally very calm and cool-headed, but occasionally his personal feelings surface and influence his command decisions a little too much. For him, this can be an advantage as much as a failing.
