"Be a better man than your father"

So. I have a new fandom obsession. Alex recently introduced me to Fringe and we finished watching the entire series (his second viewing, my first) the other day.

I CAN NOT CONTAIN MY EMOTIONS. WALTER AND ASTRID AND PETER AND OLIVIA AND PETER/OLIVIA AND GENE AND ETTA. THIS SHOW IS PERFECTION AND I AM SO PISSED AT FOX FOR CANCELING IT PREMATURELY (LIKE THEY USUALLY DO, THOSE BASTARDS).

Seriously though, I really didn't have any expectations when I started watching it. Alex really enjoyed it and he said I would as well. I just thought it would be another fun sci-fi show. I was blown away by how good it was and just how much I came to like it. This is by far my favorite J.J. Abrams show. It beats Lost by a landslide. A LANDSLIDE.

I grew to love these characters and the relationships they had with one another so much. Because while it is a fun sci-fi show, it's also a show about love, and family, and the powerful bond between a parent and their child (and vice versa). The characters are so touching and relatable. The stories they told were also balanced so well between being humorous, touching, and heart wrenching.
ALSO PETER AND OLIVIA. I WILL GO DOWN THIS SHIP. MY HEART WILL GO ON AND ONNNNNNNNNN. I loved their relationship so much and I was so happy to see that they got the happy ending they deserved.

Speaking of Peter, I also became aware of the glory that is Joshua Jackson during this viewing. I wasn't into Dawson's Creek when I was younger so he never really came across my "teen heartthrob" radar. HOT DAMN I SEE WHAT I WAS MISSING OUT ON. Bless your beautiful face, good sir.

As I said, FOX were their usual asshole selves and only gave them 13 episodes to wrap everything up in season five. While the last season was very different, it was also extremely powerful and moving. I enjoyed it immensely and was a sobbing wreck for most of it. The final scene in the final episode was so beautiful and I loved how they wrapped everything up so well. Really, the series finale was just so good overall and while I was sad to see it end, I am glad that they were given the opportunity to end it properly.

So yeah, that's what I've mainly been up to. Not too much else has been going on in my life. Work is going really well and I'm loving my new position. Oh! Last weekend I belly danced at my first restaurant! It was a really nice experience and I hope to do it again soon.

I hope you're all doing well! It seems like we're all posting on here less and less these days. While I'm sad, I can understand why. The changes they've been making kind of suck. Also, I simply don't have the time to write long entries like I used to. Tumblr is kind of easier for my life right now (as it seems to be for a lot of you as well). Anyway, I still plan to keep this thing around and update when I can. I hope you do the same. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
