the king is dead but the queen is alive

Holy shit, it's August. When the hell did that happen?

I've been up to quite a bit. At the end of July my Dad and I went to see Cavalia in San Jose. The show was INCREDIBLE. It was a beautiful mixture of dance, gymnastics, music, wire work, and equestrian art. I've been wanting to see it for years so I'm glad I finally got the chance to check it out. I have such a strong connection to horses and I find them to be gorgeous and enchanting creatures. It was amazing to see them in such a fun and creative environment that really utilized each horse's individual strengths. I also loved the fact that since it was a live show and they were working with animals, sometimes things didn't always go according to plan. In those cases the performers on stage would simply shrug their shoulders and move onto the next part, lol. The show really demonstrated the unique bond between human and horse and how it has evolved throughout history. I HIGHLY recommend checking this out if it comes to your area. And now I desperately need to go riding again. ♥

I mentioned in my last post that Alex and I moved into our new apartment. I finally have some pictures for you guys! They're nothing great as all I had to use was my camera phone, but it gives you a good layout of the place. The one thing we still need to put up is our respective posters. Then our geek home shall be complete!

I love my alter that I was able to set up on top of my dresser. ♥

Earlier in July my belly dance class put on a show for our Park and Rec Department's annual Art in the Park. This was a great way to promote the class and learn some cool new moves. For instance, I got to dance with a sword! It was so much fun! :D

This one's my favorite! :D

And finally, last weekend I was able to perform on the side stage at Carnival of Stars! It's a small belly dance festival that takes place in Richmond. This was my first time performing at a venue that wasn't associated with our dance class. It was exciting! I also got the chance to debute my new beaded bra and belt set. It only took 11 years, but I FINALLY found a beaded bra that fit me. I'm actually glad I waited and didn't settle because this costume is GORGEOUS. It was totally meant for me. I have pictures AND a video for you behind the cut. :D

I LOVE THIS
