This past weekend was a really nice one. It was busy, but still lots of fun was had. :D
On Saturday I spent the day at the
Northern California Pirate Festival. I was at the Northern California Renaissance Faire booth promoting our faire's upcoming season in September. I mainly handed out flyers and interacted with the patrons.
Surprisingly, of all people, I didn't actually have a decent pirate costume that I could have worn. I stuck with wearing my faire garb, which seemed appropriate enough. I really should work on piecing together a pirate costume for next time, though.
The festival was attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of pirates in one place. The previous record was around 1,700 and we broke it with 2,647. That's a lot of damn pirates.
My big splurge of the day was buying a pair of shoes from
Native Earth. I purchased a pair of brown, two button boots with a klettersole bottom. They definitely set me back a bit, but they are so incredibly worth it. All of my faire friends have been telling me how comfortable they are and they're absolutely right. I needed to get new shoes anyway, since my current ones had a giant hole forming on the bottom of each sole. They were definitely the wrong kind of shoes for faire. These ones are incredible and I know that they will last me a long time.
Yesterday I saw Toy Story 3 with my dad and than went to a nice dinner. The movie was incredibly cute, and I absolutely loved it. It's fun watching Disney movies with my dad, because he was the once who would always take us to the big new releases. Good memories.
Oh, one more thing. At the prospect of eventually moving, we've been cleaning out the garage trying to get rid of stuff. Our apartment complex is actually going to be putting on a community garage sale soon, so that should help in our cleaning. I was going through some boxes of mine yesterday and I found some interesting things. These were boxes that I had put together before I left for college, so I'd forgotten a lot of what was in them.
I found a number of things that I think I would like to try selling online as I think I could reach a bigger audience. I found a couple of copies of Star Wars Insider Magazine, some comics/graphic novels (Star Wars, Buffy, Xena), a huge stack of glossy photos featuring the cast of Xena, and a bunch of Sailor Moon manga. I've never sold anything online before, so I was wondering if those who have could offer me some help? Ebay seems like the obvious choice, but my step dad also suggested Amazon. I hear everyone praising PayPal, is it really that good? Any help would be great, thank you!
