Ugh. This Monday hit me too hard and too fast. I was seriously not ready to wake up this morning. >_<
The weekend was all sorts of fun, though! I'm glad I went. I hung out with Laura and Michael all weekend and got a chance to see their new place. They moved into East Campus housing so that they can live on school grounds over the summer. They both have jobs in the area and they didn't want to leave them for the summer break.
Like I said, one of Laura's jobs is working at the
Pebble Beach Equestrian Center. She had to work on Saturday, but that meant I could join one of her trail guide groups that she was leading. It felt incredible to be back on a horse again. It had been years since the last time I'd ridden one, but little things started to come back to me as the day went on. When I was younger I used to participate in riding camps every summer. They were so much fun and I remember learning so much.
I remember we stopped going one summer after there was a particularly bad incident. The whole camp was on a trail ride when a deer jumped out and spooked all of the horses. Needless to say, said horses bucked off all of their riders and the camp was left with a number of hurt kids. I walked away with a swollen check bone and a sprained ankle. I actually still have a scar on my ankle from where the horse trampled over me.
Surprisingly, that accident didn't turn me off from riding at all. I knew it wasn't the horses fault and I wanted to get back in the saddle. My mom wasn't having any of it though, and declared that we were taking a break. Like I said, it's been a long time since I've gotten the chance to ride, but horses have always held a special place in my heart. They're actually one of my main power animals and I feel an incredibly deep connection to them. I'm seriously thinking of looking into taking lessons again.

In other news, the first season of Doctor Who is officially at the top of my netflix queue! Finally! Now that the Fall TV season is done, I have time to start watching (and possibly get addicted to...) new fandoms.
