Shakespeare Greeting Cards: Othello Valentine's Day

Feb 15, 2012 15:33

My dearest husband, I shall love you forever. Even when you sneak into my room at night to smother me for believing I cheated on you (when that was not the least bit true), I shall defy all medical logic to call out my love for you. That is how much I love you.

Seriously, that was the one thing that majorly bugged me about this play. Othello smothers her for a bit and then stops, claiming he has killed her. Yet when Emilia comes in, Desdemona calls out Othello's innocence and only then does she die. If she has enough breath in her to talk about Othello's innocence, than she was not properly suffocated with the pillow!
