Its wonderful watching Blair thinking about River. Sunlight burns dark, nuclear fusion in the peaches. Can someone go and check the cargo for ambient radiation? Love Captain Jimmy, its really not his fault that the Browncoat fleet was composed of volunteers with no military training.
Oh, they will definitely be checking the cargo. And you're right that Captain Jimmy can't be blamed for others' incompetence. But saying that around Mal just might get you shot.
*deep breath* Okay so Mal hasn't shot Jim. Yet. Like I said I think Mal is noble then Mal thinks he is. So I bet his trigger finger is still itching to shoot Jim but I don't he would-- unless Jim proved himself to be a danger to the crew.
I liked how you diffused the situation to the point were I was with Mal going "wait a second we were talking about shooting some a second ago right?" It was very organic and I loved River saying that there wasn't going to be any shooting because it's lunch time. And I'm glad someone is finally telling Simon that while River may sound crazy she isn't crazy.
Mal is still considering his options, but you're right that he is probably indulging in the fantasy without actually being the sort of man to shoot a captive.
So I just checked this website before heading out of town on Christmas break, to make sure I had the address bookmarked. I saw this new story with three chapters. I read it. I went to go check other bookmarks, and the story had four chapters. /e is blindsided by fic. I really like how Jim is expressing his "protect the guide" instincts by deliberately being antagonistic. Sort of "good cop/ bad cop" gone astray. Anyway, if you feel like posting any more updates in the next 5 minutes, that'd be fine with me :)
That was a very close call and I agree with skeptic7 that the cargo they're carrying around sounds like a likely culprit for 'sunlight burns dark' and 'nuclear fusion in the peaches'. Since the engines sound fine.
