Oh, how sad. Riley really wasn't a bad guy in canon, although so much fanfiction portrays him as a jerk. He's not Jim, but he'd be okay for Blair, and he can relate to Jim. But why do I think Blair can turn Riley around...?

None of these guys is bad. They're all a little messed up in their own ways. Hell, I think Jim did more actual harm in canon than Riley did!

Lovely.

I can just see earnest Riley confiding all this to Jim. Glad you stuck to BtVS canon with his backstory though sorry to hear about Sam. It's not so easy being the person in charge.

They're both soldiers. I think these two understand each other in a way that Blair can't understand either of them.

Blair is going to kill him, but JIm is right... someone has to put Blair's needs first.

I continue to be really impressed with Jim in this story--he's really putting Blair's happiness up there as the most important goal. And I'm starting to like Riley... :)

Jim watched Blair die in canon, but here, he watched Blair spend months fighting back from a debilitating injury. I think that has really helped him put things in perspective. HIs friend is more important than his own comfort.
