CATWOMAN! It's rather ironic, I think, that the 1960s -- which weren't exactly the height of feminism -- still had costumed superheroes/villains as unfetishized figures, too. I've always thought that the Frank Miller backstory seems to be very divisive among Selina's fans.

Have you read the Cat-Tales fanfiction series?

I think Frank Miller's storyline is one of those "love it or hate it" things. The Catwoman series that's based off Year One expounds on that story line a lot more, and I really liked it.

I have not. Link?

The most recent stories are archived at http://catwoman-cattales.com/. I have my problems with the characterization of some of the minor characters, but it's a very witty and well-written series.

Have you seen The Dark Knight Rises yet? This version of of Catwoman is most similar to the comics in my opinion (she's a cat burglar with a bit of a robin hood thing going) and Anne Hathway did a kickass job with her (much more so than Michelle Pfeiffer who scared the crap out of me as a kid or Halle Berry who was ridiculous).

I haven't yet. Because I live in the middle of nowhere, it isn't playing here yet. But Iove Anne Hathaway and I've already heard really great things about her portrayal.

Yeah, the nearest theater playing it is about 45 minutes away. Our town theater also never showed Harry Potter or LotR because they were about magic.
