Excellent choice. I've never seen the John Wayne version either, and as I've been told that version is much more Rooster-centric, so I'm even more glad I never saw it. This film is one of my favorites, and Mattie is an amazing character. Love her so much.

(But I have to say, Matt Damon's Dandified Texas Ranger is one of my favorite performances of his.)

Some Wikapedia-ing (totally a word) tells me that the 2010 version is much closer to the novel than the 1969 version, which they wanted to be more focused on John Wayne since he was the star.

I adore Hailee Steinfeld, and I can't wait to see her in more stuff. I'll even sit through the new Romeo and Juliet movie for her (and Paul Wesley.)

Matt Damon is one of my favorite actors. He's always so great in everything.
