Well halfway through my last (well first) entry, my friend Dawn instant messages me asking if I knew anyone who wanted to go to see Nickelback in concert. I had a rare impulsive moment and expressed my personal interest in seeing the affair. Great! I showered quickly and Dawn picked me up by 3:30. Around 4:00 we were freezing our asses off waiting in line. The tickets were wonderfully floor "seats" (well there wasn't anywhere to sit, of course) so we had to ensure we were one of the first groups in. It worked out, we were among the first 15 or so into the arena, and got standing room RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STAGE. There was no one in between myself and the band. It was truly awesome. Nickelback is an awesome group, they have wonderful stage presence and confidence and the lead singer is hilarious.
The show itself was really flashy, fireworks, pyrotechnics, of course myriads of lights. I find these types of concerts brutally loud (well seeing as my music of choice is classical) so I made sure to stuff my ears with cotton and pop a few advil to keep headaches from stirring. The sound was great, their music is really decent and because of the cotton my ears aren't ringing! My jacket does smell of beer though. They did this show stopper called "Beer o'clock" where they handed out plastic glasses of Molson, unfortunately thirsty concert goers are quite clumsy and we ended up getting spilled all over passing the beer back.
I'm not looking forward to church tomorrow. The director of the choir I accompany is away on a Scrabble Tournement (how cute) so I'm stuck with the choir sans director. It's going to be a mess. I haven't had the chance this week to decide the songs so we'll just wait and see what they feel like singing tomorrow morning.
ANYWAYS, it's after midnight so I'm off to bed ;-) 'Night all!
