My weekend was uneventful.
My family has serious issues. We were supposed to leave for Burlington at 1 PM on Friday afternoon when my dad got home from work. We were packed and ready to go when my brother started being the ass he so commonly portrays. He swore at my mother, said some pretty nasty things to her and me as well, when my mom started crying my dad totally lost it. He was about a millimetre away from striking him on several occasions, and the yelling totalled about 3 hours. We almost didn't leave at all, the only way my dad was going to drive us was if my brother stay the week down there. My mom cried the whole time. I went downstairs to hit keys until my dad decided we should just leave and get on with things.
The car trip down was awful, my mom's sadness turned to bitchiness and she took it out on me, criticizing just about all my faults within a few hours time. She had something to say about everything from my appearance, to my work ethic, my social life (or lack of), my lack of goals, everything! Needless to say by the time we got there my self esteem was rock bottom.
Saturday my family went to my other uncle's (the one's we weren't staying with) and I decided to stay behind. I needed to be alone. I wasted time for about 5 hours half-watching Bowling for Columbine on my cousin's faded-colour television. I tried to sit down and read my independent study book, but it wasn't going to happen.
Sunday my mood changed :D We stopped at the outlet mall in Cookstown, and I dropped about $200 of my mother's wallet (she was obviously feeling sorry for me) on clothing. Nothing too special, just basic items from Campus Crew, Calvin Klein, and Tommy. Yes I dress like a prep. But that's because I see myself as a bland, blend-in-the-crowd type of person. I just buy what's comfortable/looks decent on me/affordable. Not one item (not even the Calvin Klein khaki pants) was over $20. I was proud of that. I left with about 7 tee shirt, 4 long sleeved shirts, 1 hoodie, 1 pair of pants, and 1 pair of pajamas. Not too bad.
Today Britt and I were bored to death so we randomly drove around Sudbury. We walked through Winners, Prom Music, the New Sudbury Centre, Southridge mall, Skadurz Pro (gawd what prices!!) and Great Canadian Card Co. I didn't buy a single item. We drove past Mr van's house because we're weird like that. Yes he lives on a dead-end street. Glad he wasn't home. His driveway was full of snow and was without tire tracks. It hasn't snowed since yesterday morning or Saturday so he must be out of town. Or maybe he has an in-town second bedroom. Ha.
