Mistaken Identity
The other day I was walking towards the student union while another guy was walking out. He sees me, gets this huge smile on his face and makes this grand gesture of opening the door for me, when I clearly had several steps to go before reaching the door. And what I hear him say is "Shaday, your carraige awaits." Now this first Shaday word I thought was a weird way of saying hi that I didn't know about. But turns out it's someone's name. As I get close I smile back and say thank you. But then he's like, "Oh, your not Shaday are you." And I confirm his inquiry. And then he seemed kinda disappointed and embarassed and we went our separate ways. it kinda sucks to have somebody be genuinely excited to see you only to realize they thought you were someone else. It got me all happy even though I had no idea who the kid was, and then I was sad. But now I want to meet this Shaday, or Sade, or whatever her name is. I doubt anyone has mistakenly been superexcited because they thought she was Kathleen.
