seriously, i don't think the weather could be any nicer. i love this time of year...it's like my whole body is waking up & coming to life. im loving spring right now.
my weekend was pretty great. lately, ive had weekends off & that's muy bueno. saturday, anthony ended up having to work because its been so dry here...the forest was high risk for fire, so i had the whole day to myself. i had my breakfast treat & coffee and then decided it was high time to drag the bike out of the basement & get peddlin'. first bike ride of the year & i made it 10 miles, which was pretty good, considering i haven't ridden since august. if you're familiar with ashevile, then you know nothing is flat. ugh. my thighs were hating me, but i was loving it. i rode from my house downtown to the marshall town limits-finally making it up the one hill that i just couldn't climb last year...i don't know what it was, but that hill was my nemesis...i guess it was more like a small mountain. anyhow, i beat it. go me.
i'm hoping to get in some good rides before it gets too hot. i'm thinking *and this is a serious thinking only* about doing the stretch of blue ridge parkway between pisgah forest/brevard & here. 35 miles, doood. only 16 miles of it are uphill...i dunno. it just sounds like a good idea.
oh! we saw 300 on saturday night, too...awesome.
sunday, we took a drive down to ninety six, south carolina to check out a national park site by the same name. it was the site of a revolutionary war battle & pretty much in the middle of nowheresville. we kept thinking we missed it, that's how tucked away it was. the town it was located outside looked like time just forgot it...lots of plantation homes & old slaves quarters.
the site itself was awesome...next trip: dry tortugas. that's my bday present. 3 days of snorkeling & camping, then on the way home, a birthday feast at sublime. yumss.
how was your weekend, monkeys?
