What a busy weekend! I managed to get most of my to-do list finished. My new set of armor looks great. I hope to have a picture taken of me in it sometime soon. The tunic that Trina made for me to wear really makes the whole outfit. Now I just need to get some period boots and a new pair of pants and I'll be set.

Friday I took Theresa out to see John Stewart do a stand-up show. He did a great job. His show was about 80% political humor, attacking both liberals and conservatives. I think John Stewart is more liberal than conservative. His bit about gay marriage was great - he said he doesn't see what the problem is, last he heard gay marriage wasn't mandatory. His act did have a fair bit of profanity, but it came across as being how he talks. He seemed to be very much a New Yorker.

Saturday was the OSU Ren Faire. It is the biggest demo Tirnewydd does each year. We had a decent turn-out of fighters, eight showed up. We did a lot of one on one fights and a few melees. Erick, Aine and I faced Edmund with two-sticks and he slaughtered us. We had poor unit cohession. Aine came out and fought bastard sword against my sword and shield. The fight went well until her hand got hit while doing a block. There was blood everywhere, she broke a finger. I feel awful, I hate hurting my friends.

In addition to armored combat there was fencing and dance. The fencers also had a good turout, I think they may have surpassed our numbers - but we were close. The dancing was a lot of fun, we got a few new people to try it out, but it caused an incident. Apparently one of the new dancers felt that he was coerced into dancing and did not appreciate it. Between that and all the noise about A&S in Tirnewydd it's starting to be a lot less fun.

After the Ren Faire I headed up to Canton. My sister, Taylor, was having her first communion on Sunday and I had made plans to hang out with Chris Hetrick on Saturday night. It was great to see Chris. We grabbed some dinner, played some games, hung out, talked - just a great time. His house is straight out of the 70's, but he and April are working on modernizing it. He also showed me some of the pictures from his wedding. Both April and Chris looked great! I stayed out way too late though - I didn't get home till nearly 1:00 in the morning.

On Sunday I was up at 7:15. My sister was the only one going up for first communion so my Mom got to pick out which service it would be done at. My Mom likes doing things early. After mass (I didn't go up for communion), my whole big extended family went out for breakfast. It was really cool getting to see them all again. My cousin Jake brought his girlfriend, they're a cute couple. I got to pick on my cousin Madison, she's my new favorite to pick on. I talked to my aunt Gill and uncle Mark about all sorts of things. It was just a good time. After breakfast we went back to my parent's house for some cake.

After everyone left my family decided to go to the McKinley museum and monument. We only had about an hour and a half at the museum, but it was nice. Krystal, my oldest sister, was her normal self. I don't have any idea what her problems are with the family. At the museum we went to an animal show where you get to meet and pet them. Stevie, my youngest sister, showed no fear in going up to any of the animals and Luke, my oldest brother, was nothing but a coward. Pretty normal stuff. After the animals we went to the top floor where they had a variety of things from the turn of the 20th century. I was impressed by the quality of the personal effects of William McKinley. After the museum I raced Beau up the monument steps - my longer legs let me take the stairs two at a time so I beat him to the top pretty easily. I was more impressed with the monument that I was when I was younger. McKinley was a Mason - he took the first three degrees in three days, one degree per day. I thought that was really neat. There were also wreaths from Masons and different groups all around his tomb.

On the way home I ran into a problem, they had the on ramp to 30 shut down in Wooster. Fortunately, I was able to get ahold of Jon and he gave me an alternate route. Other than that the trip home was uneventful. When I got back to my place I played some God of War - it rocks, but I can't mash buttons fast enough for this boss fight. Theresa came over and we watched the new Family Guy episode. I love being able to say I watched a new Family Guy episode. Matt finally showed up and he and I got to hang out for about two hours or so.

All in all it was a very long weekend.
