Saw The Last Exorcism last night. Loved it.
IDG why people are bitching about the ending. They told us halfway through that that's what was going to happen. And it did. Lol. I found it brilliant actually because it just shows how much we're conditioned to expect twists or people to miraculously save the day and find solutions that in this case, it was so the antithesis of cliché beCAUSE we knew what was slated to happen, if that makes sense. It was more real. Of course the movie ended - the crew fucking died. BUT OH MAN I LOVED THE VISUALS, I love that they didn't use CGI or over-hyped shit, they just had her backbend and do splits and just be a fucking creep. and that girl was awesome. and so was the guy who played her brother.
Then we came home and watched The Exorcist, which I had never seen. I saw PART of it once when I was babysitting as a kid, the part where she pees on the floor, but I had to turn it off because the little shit I was babysitting decided to come downstairs and I couldn't get her back to bed. But oh my goodness, I loved it, I wasn't scared by it at all but what I really loved was how artistic it was underneath. I noticed immediately what a beautiful sense of rhythm it had, I loved how they used ticking clocks and other sounds to set tone and I loved how they made their cuts and even their actors' walking match the ticks. I loved so many shots, too, and how they used zoom, AND THE FLASHES OF THE DEMON, LOVE, I thought it was such a fucking gorgeous film. And so so ballsy for the 70's too, MAN. Love. Love.
