Saw VI just made me cry. Not because it was sick and twisted scared me (those things made me smile), but because I wanted to make that so much. I can't explain it and the fact that I had such a positive and inspiring reaction to a film of this nature kind of makes me wonder if I'm not slightly ill, but it also makes me wonder if maybe it just means ( Read more... )

And god, even the previews beforehand, I wanted those so badly too.

I feel this. I swear when I'm going to the movies if we are running late and end up having to miss the previews I will just wait for the next show. I have to watch the previews. Idk but I noticed with my editing work that I seem to always want to drift towards trailers. I just have the NEED to tell a story as dramatically as possible in a small space. I really WANT to move people with my work and make them say WOW. I NEED TO SEE THAT. I've lost count of how many trailers have moved me to tears only for the ACTUAL movie to not even come close to living up to that.

I want that. I NEED THAT. Lets start a company ;)

I cannot even explain the effect they have on me. By the time they're done, half of the time I'm so emotionally drained that I don't even feel like sitting through a film anymore. I'd be so content to just walk out then, already gotten my money's worth. FUCK, there was one tonight, and Mad World came on and I started crying and I had no control and it was so stupid and I didn't even understand it. Oh, I found it.

Fucking same. Or movies where the trailers blow but I can tell that it's just a shitty trailer because their editor sucks and the film will actually be good, and it is. Hey hey, can we make a deal that if we ever see bitchin previews, we take note and share? Because I would love that. I would also start a company, not joking, because artistic companions that are on the same page as me, you'd be one of those.

I saw that trailer yesterday actually. What I love about it and Mad World especially in it, is that the song itself is kind of slow and haunting but the action is a polar opposite to it. And instead of just looking like a badly paced music video (see: several ive sent to you from the xfiles fandom lol) they use the scenes to heighten the song and the overall effect. It's really quite brilliant.

I remember watching the preview to Nights in Rodanthe and I had never read the book or even knew it was by He Who Shant Be Named and I just cried in the theater for a good 5 minutes. I dont even remember what the trailer after that was about. It just struck me for some reason. The same thing with Martian Child. The trailers were so beautifully edited and then I see the movies and neither lived up to the expectations I had in my head.

also... randomly offtopic...

I hate how shitty vidders have it in fandom. Icon makers and fic writers get all the glory and vidders tend to get the shit end of the stick. Not as far as comments and shit go but as far as awareness.

For icon makers they have icontests and for writers they have prompts and 100s and shit.

I always kind of wished there was stuff like that for vidders. Like you sign up for challenges and every month you get a choice of like four things. Either like four different bits of dialogue or four different scenes and you have to make an entire video around that.

It'd be so fascinating to see what people would come up with.

OH MY GOD THIS DRIVES ME SO FUCKING NUTS, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. SERIOUSLY. AND FIC. I, FOR THE MOST PART, DO NOT FUCKING GET THE APPEAL OF IT AND IDG WHY IT GETS SO MUCH ATTENTION COMPARED TO EVERYTHING ELSE. When people go through H/C ~withdrawl~, they post asking for fic recs. Why not video recs? Why not art recs, and I don't even necessarily mean graphics, but I know there are people out there who paint and draw such beautiful things, why wouldn't you want to see those, too. And okay, that's not even the thing that bothers me most. The thing that bothers me most is all the fucking memes for writers all the time. Like, I don't get it. Do I post asking you to pick out your favorite cut or lyric match in one of my videos and tell me why you love it so much? Do I ask you to give me a character I've edited and promise to give you 5 facts from my personal canon from them? No. But I should be able to, if I want. There are like, no video memes at all. (So start one, Liss! Oh, I would, but I'm too busy actually editing the fuckers, sorry ( ... )

MY FRIEND JUST SENT THIS TO ME!
Ugh, I can't freaking wait!
I also can't wait for Shutter Island.

This is actually a remake of a George Romero movie, I read on Wikipedia.
