OKAY HI. I woke up and got ready and went to go to school, but I left the house a little late and therefore was late. I went out to my car and saw BEES ON IT. LIKE 12 OF THEM. WTH WTH. I think it was because when I was housesitting, I parked in their driveway under this huge tree and there was probably sap on it. IDFK, POINT IS, THERE ARE BEES ALL OVER IT, DOESN'T MATTER HOW OR WHY, THEY'RE THERE. And I've been stung once in my life, at dance camp, and it was terrifying because at that point I did not know whether or not I was allergic. BUT APPARENTLY I AM NOT, FOR I LIVED, BUT IT WAS STILL NOT PLEASANT. I manage to get in the car without being stung or getting any bees caught in the car. And as I'm driving, I think, "I REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED/WANT A CARWASH RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THIS IS FREAKING ME OUT. BUT FUCK, I DO NOT HAVE TIME, BECAUSE I CANNOT BE LATE FOR SCHOOL. Normally I wouldn't care, but my first class is Film and I DO care because I do not want to ever disrespect him EVER." AND THEN. The next stoplight I pull up to, I stop, and I see a few raindrops on my windshield. AND THEN IT STARTS DOUNPOURING. and I am like, THANK YOU GOD. AND I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO PAY FOR A CARWASH. Seriously, you guys, it's things like that in life that absolutely thrill the shit out of me.

I pull up to school 10 minutes late because I keep forgetting that parking is a nightmare. I didn't have to deal with it last year because I had to be here earlier but sdkljfha. WHATEVER. So I'm freaking out at being SO late and I even contemplate not going because I don't want to disrupt his class and be disrespectful because I love him, okay. But I go, and it was no big deal at all because he had just been talking randomly and reading off names and hadn't even started yet. It's almost as if he knew I'd never miss his class and was just waiting to start. Because when I walked in, he was calling off names and I walked down the stairs and he was like, "Oh and there's Alyssa! *marks paper*" and then started teaching for real. AND HE'S TALKING, AND HE SAYS WE'RE GOING TO WATCH OUR FIRST FILM TODAY AND I DO NOT KNOW THIS BECAUSE I NEVER READ MY SYLLABUS EVER. He's talking about it, how he wants to start with recent films and work our way back to end on Citizen Kane (which I think is gorgeous but overrated). He says the one we're going to watch is from the last couple of years, and he's just going on and on about how gorgeous it is aesthetically, and has such powerful imagery and stunning film-making and it makes you think, etc, and everything he said was like 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', and I was thinking of how much I'd die if that was what we were watching. Then he said something else, I don't even remember, that made me feel like it could be 'Spanglish'. "And it stars Clive Owen and Julianne Moore." AND I DONT EVEN FANGIRL HER BUT I LOST MY SHIT BECAUSE OH MY GOD, GEMMA. AND IT IS CHILDREN OF MEN. SO I AM EXCITED. AND THEN HE SAYS THAT ALFONSO CUARON DIRECTED IT AND I FUCKING LOVE HIM AND I GOT SO SO EXCITED.

Okay. IT IS SO GORGEOUS. And I love the premise and I love it because it is already making me think so much. AND I TOOK NOTES. BECAUSE IT'S SCHOOL. AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE NOTES IN SCHOOL. (no but really I just was so excited to take notes, he said we didn't have to lol) SO THESE ARE MY NOTES, WITH LJ-ESQUE ELABORATION.

→ THE SHOT OF (GOD I SUCK AT REMEMBERING CHARACTERS' NAMES IN FILMS) CLIVE'S FEET ON THE TABLE TOWARDS THE BEGINNING. OH MY GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH. where can I find caps of this.

→ LMAO AT THE STORK JOKE. OH MY GOD I DIED.

→ I loved how after they take him or whatever, and then they put him back out on the street and throw bus fare at him and he watches them drive away, there's a billboard right behind his head that says "Suspicious?" on it and oh my god. lksjdfha

→ When he's talking to his brother or his cousin or whoever the fuck that person is who needs to get the papers for him, and he makes that comment about how everything is going to be gone or something, he says, "What keeps you going?" and the brother/person says, "I just don't think about it." And he's totally happy when he says this, and it really really touched on how sometimes I feel like my life would be a lot easier if I just didn't think. The people who don't ever think about anything have it so much easier because they can just.... do what they're told and never get in trouble and never be bothered by imminent destruction of society or the human race, and they have it so much easier and they're so much happier to live and accept this shit that I just think is completely unacceptable.

→ When Julianne's character (is it Julian?) says to him, "You came for the money", and then he says, "Did I?" they walk down those stairs and THERE IS A *GORGEOUS* LONG SHOT. and they're like silhouetted and you have the gorgeous curved line of the tunnel and BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL.

→ OMG GEMMA SHE HAS A NOSE RING.

→ THAT PING PONG THING. Did they really do that or was there some sort of film-making trickery involved? SO CUTE. and then she got shot and fucking died. THAT WAS SO AMAZING, THAT JUXTAPOSITION. and I loved the imagery of him holding his hand on her neck and HER HAND LIKE, UP BY HIS. AND ALL THE BLOOD. also, not gonna lie, I'm really pissed she's dead already. And I'm also really pissed that they pushed this film by saying she starred in it and putting her name on the cover and everything, even though she is barely in it. It just feels like they're using her name and status to me, and that bugs. Unless she said she wanted it or something, I don't know anything about it but from what I do know, THAT BUGS AND IS REALLY REALLY MISLEADING AND MEAN.

→ I love the symbolism of the cat on his leg. When they're all in their ~meeting~ over what to do, and the cat is clawing at the bottom of his pants. And then when the girl asks Clive what he'd do, and then chooses to stay there even though he told her not to, the cat jumps up his leg and that's the end of the scene. I LOVED THAT SO FUCKING MUCH.

→ There was another beautiful shot/camera angle when he's checking the cars for keys, the second car. When he nearly gets caught by the other guy smoking on the other side of the car and you can see them through the window and you can see Clive in the foreground and the colors and sdlkjfhhajkldsf.

→ THEY KILLED HER. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING.

→ OH OH. (and I'm sorry these are all aesthetic right now) I LOVED AFTER THEY JACKED A CAR, HOW THEY WERE GOING DOWN THAT HILL WITH IT, AND THE GUY CAUGHT UP TO HIM, AND SAID, "I'VE GOT A CLEAR SHOT", IT WAS LIKE, SPLIT-SCREENED BUT NOT TECHNICALLY. I don't really remember. I just freaked out on my paper. I need to find caps so I can show you these brilliant things.

→ I LOVED THAT THEY DID NOT OVER-DRAMATIZE THE ~ESCAPE~ WITH MUSIC. THERE WAS NO MUSIC AT ALL. NO INTENSE SCORE, NO NOTHING. KLJASDHFHJSDFJHKSDJK HSDJFDJKSFAHJK.

That's as far as we got - them driving away.
*IF YOU SPOIL ME PAST THIS POINT IN THE FILM, I WILL KILL YOU.*

But oh my god, I couldn't hear/understand what happened to Clive/Julianne's son. He was 2, that's all I really got, I couldn't understand her. IT KIND OF BUGS HOW IN THE CAR AT THE BEGINNING, THE GIRL IS ALL "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU STARING AT" IN A PLAIN NORMAL (TO ME) ACCENT, AND THEN WHEN SHE TALKS ABOUT IMPORTANT SHIT, SHE GETS THIS HEAVY AFRICAN ACCENT AND WHAT THE FUCK. oh oh I also loved the shot of her with the cows. BUT ANYWAY. I was GOING to say that I'm really pissed Julianne is dead already because I SHIPPED THEM AND WHEN HALF OF A SHIP DIES, IT BECOMES POINTLESS. I love how she told the girl to only trust HIM and no one else. Sad. I want to know about them and what happened and skldjfha.

also!! Skype, ILU! I got to talk to london_fan for an hour yesterday! ♥! We had so much fun. IT IS AMAZING, GET IT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT.

In other news, I thought my next class started at 11 but it starts at 12. So, this entry is brought to you by Liss' inability to pay attention to the scheduling of her own life.
