The Bush administration proposes conscience rule for doctors who don't want to do their fucking jobs

I don't know anything about politics, I've never really followed them at all, but it doesn't matter in this case - I may not be a political know-it-all, but I AM a woman. I am so fucking angry right now. And I'm not going to sugar-coat anything and I don't care if there are any Bush supporters or republicans or pro-life people on my flist who this ( Read more... )

YES. JOIN THE OUTRAGE.

I've been following this story since it broke and it is horrific and shows such a lack of understanding or respect for what women go through when faced with an unwanted pregnancy. This law would further disadvantage minorities and the poor. It brings religion into yet another aspect of our society where it just should not be. It guarantees that more kids will grow up in unstable homes, will grow up a parent/parents who cannot necessarily provide for them. It guarantees more children in an already overcrowded and broken foster care system- a system where many of them will end up being abused. The people who will suffer most because of this law are woman and children particularly those who are already disadvantaged.

I see no need to be delicate in this matter or accommodating to others' beliefs. This is wrong.

Furthermore, this law would limit access to birth control and has the potential to allow for a widened definition of abortion- a definition that would include many common forms of birth control, including the Pill. Check out this entry over at ontd_politics for more details.

ALSO, it's my fucking body and I shouldn't be forced to use it support another life without my consent. If I want to abort a pregnancy, that is my fucking choice. No one else should ever have the right to make decisions about my body and my health but me. It's shit like this that makes it seem like women's bodies are public property, people like this who think it's okay to blame the woman if she is raped. Stay the fuck away from my body.

P.S. Everything you said about the choice being taken away from women? Awesomely worded, though calling the doctor a "pussy" for not performing an abortion was unintentionally humorous.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS - LACK OF RESPECT.

It guarantees that more kids will grow up in unstable homes, will grow up a parent/parents who cannot necessarily provide for them.
I KNOW! that is horrible! why would anyone want that?!

It guarantees more children in an already overcrowded and broken foster care system- a system where many of them will end up being abused.
Lisa Edelstein feels very strongly about this.

I see no need to be delicate in this matter or accommodating to others' beliefs. This is wrong.
thank you.

oh they want to limit birth control as well. GREAT. I could literally throw up, I am so upset.

And dont they realize that if they dont let people get an abortion, they're just going to try to do it themselves? and that will fuck them up so much more. AND THE RAPE THING, GOD THAT BOTHERS ME. IF I GET RAPED AND GET PREGNANT, I DO NOT WANT THAT THING LIVING IN ME AND I DONT EVER WANT TO LOOK AT IT WHEN IT COMES OUT, EITHER. HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO RAISE IT.

LMAO. pussy.
