This video is basically from House’s POV - Cuddy is this bright and beautiful presence to him and he just keeps trying to win her over. He knows he’s a piece of shit and he knows she deserves better but he keeps trying anyway. And he knows that even when it doesn’t look like he’s making any headway, he is. Because no matter what, every day, he gets a little bit closer to her. And that’s what keeps him going.

iPod - 16MB This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Just everything - the soft percussion, THE PIANO, the violins. The vocals. Just so… compositionally beautiful. And I really had fun with this one because it reminded me how much I really feel for House as a person. I don't know. It's really hard to explain but I felt something different and it was just... really colorful and nice. AND LOL FANGIRL BATTLE WOUND, TOTALLY - I was going through Airborne and managed to accidentally stop on a shot of them staring at each other and I FLAILED and my left foot flexed and I TOTALLY. PULLED. THE MUSCLE BEHIND MY KNEE. It hurts so bad, I am so out of shape in terms of flexibility now, so that like... lol really hurt. But I had fun with these guys and smiled and flailed a lot at their glowing cuteness.
0:06 - Timing, her hand.
0:08 - This video definitely has a minor focus on her walk. I couldn’t ignore that fucking amazing percussion.
0:17 - New effect! If a video or a song allows for uniqueness, or a trademark or something, I try to feed that. And I’ve never used this one before and I think it works so well with this song’s feel and this clip especially.
0:23 - Her little eyelashes! Note the blinks on “words. being. said.” And just her mouth - look at it. AND LISTEN TO THAT FLUTE!!
0:28 - I kept the flowers in there because they are colorful and bright like her and I really love the movement and the natural camera panning there. And again, her timing on her walk. And that freeze frame on “closer”, because she’s walking towards him, and obviously, getting closer.
0:36 - FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITE. Watch her hips with those maracas or whatever instrument is shaking like that.
0:41 - this is how he sees her. She shines (watch her mouth with that piano when she says "okay", too).
0:49 - her walk and those maracas again. And watch his eyes after she goes off frame - *blink blink eyebrows*: watch that timing.
0:53 - his head falls back on that *rattle*, and then I had to speed up this time lapse of the clock to make each minute hit that beautiful high piano.
0:59 - blink on “stare”. She’s starting to get it, be intrigued, open up, think about forgiving him all of his crap. And I really wanted something outside for “open space”.
1:05 - *flail* he is SO getting in.
1:09 - “I’ll remember”: just his little face. And then her hair flip on “day”. And then the obvious timing on “bit closer”
1:15 - this section of all the "you"s. She’s noticing and acknowledging him. And listen to the piano, especially in the section at 1:20 with all of their little turns and stuff.
1:35 - he like steps *DOWN* on that heavy piano.
1:44 - He’s going to lose her if he doesn’t… *gestures frantically trying to find words* I can’t explain it, so hopefully you like… get it, I don’t know.
1:48 - this whole flashy section, he’s realizing that she has given him plenty of good chances and openings but he was always too stubborn to take them. (and yay timing, all of it, her blinks and head shaking from Finding Judas especially)
2:03 - NO I LIED, THIS IS MY FAVORITE. This line is probably why I did this video in the first place, as I’ve had that scene playing out EXACTLY like that in my head for… oh my god, at least six months. I remember I was walking to my Astronomy class and this song was playing on my iPod and I was obsessed with it back then and with the idea of a video to it, and then I JUST SAW THIS IN MY HEAD. JUST LIKE THIS. AND I FREAKED THE HELL OUT. So I had to pull my notebook out of my purse and quick write it down, all while trying to hold my school books and my iPod and my purse and it was a disaster, basically. But I really love this. “I can always hear you breathe”.
2:07 - Continuation of the scene before all the flashbacks. I kind of wanted to bookend them and make it seem that all of that stuff really did flash in front of him in such a short second of time. & watch his eyes narrow a bit on “be”.
2:11 - when you needed me. ♥
2:23 - LOOK. AT HER CUTE. IMPISH. FACE. AS SHE SCOOTS OFF AWAY FROM HIM. It kills me. She’s still making him work but now she’s playful about it.
2:26 - This section. Look at how much closer he is to her. ♥ & 2:40, listen for that… nngh I don’t know what instrument it is. But I hope you can hear it because I totally hear it when that light comes out of her and I REALLY REALLY hope you can listen for it.
2:45 - “you know there’s nowhere else”. I had issues with this part because the end of the “youuuu” overlapped with this line and I wanted to use them both and I tried cutting the “you” short so I could use that whole next line, but it totally messed up the rhythm of it, but it didn’t feel right finishing out the “you” and cutting that next line short. BUT LUCKILY. I tried this one and it works for BOTH because look at his headshaking! It totally works for me.
2:48 - LOOK AT THEIR FACES. Fierce.
2:53 - he’s finally seeing her disappointment and realizing that there have been so. many. times. That she’s needed him but he just let her walk away to deal with it on her own.
2:57 - he’s stepping up and offering to fix everything because he finally realized what he needs to do and how much she means to him.
3:06 - and this is here in all of her shining gorgeousness thinking over whether or not she’s going to let him in and give him a true shot.
