I GOT UP TO WATCH MEGAN MULLALLY... and it wasnt on. I checked Megan's website and it said that it aired at 2 in Duluth. BUT I HAD A FILM QUIZ & LECTURE I COULD NOT MISS. i WOULD have set the VCR, but that fucker Amanda took it a couple days ago when no one was home. So ugh. I had the hardest time taking that quiz, i was having an anxiety attack. But i got 100% on it BUT STILL. ugh. But then you guys, omg, BEST FILM LECTURE EVER. We talked about costumes...

"Okay, so say you've got these two characters, you know. And the color of their clothes always comes from the same pallette -- say they're both wearing shades of blue, and everyone around them is colored differently. So these two characters are always sort of matching. That could imply that they're gonna get together... Or perhaps they already have. And we subconsciously pick up on that."

(okay, so this is a stretch, but its from the same 'color palette', OKAY?!)

LOOK AT THOSE LIGHT BLUE/BEIGE COMPLIMENTS?! this has got to be the most deliberate one ever.

SEND ME OTHER ONES THAT YOU FIND. i am extremely interested in this.

AND I DIED. okay, i had to put my head on my desk so he wouldn't think i was a fucking freak. And i care what he thinks because he's smart, and like famous lol practically. AND HI, 6 DEGREES OF LISA EDELSTEIN. I took a class from Tom Isbell, who was in an episode of 'The Equalizer' where he was killed by Brad Whitford, who was on the West Wing, where Lisa was a guest star. TA DAAAA!

NO SHUT UP. BECAUSE GUESS WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT NEXT. Genres. Basic structure, traits, etc. So, we're talking about Romantic Comedy. AND THEN HE BRINGS UP UNRESOLVED SEXUAL TENSION. Im telling you guys, best lecture ever. These are parts of his notes:
ROMANTIC COMEDY
--couple, two people are from "different sides of the tracks".
--woman is often the smart one, on top.
--man is often good-looking, but foolish and stubborn.
--characters are perfect for each other: we see it, they don't.
--the Hays Code of 1930: censored overt & obvious sexuality.
--led to innuendos & subtleties --> SUBTEXT. FAR more satisfying.
Why does it work?
--flirtation is tantalizing.
--relationship is erotically charged because it is NOT consummated, sexual tension.
--tension goes away when it's consummated, which is where a majority of the audience often loses interest.

the entire time, i was like SAKLDJFSALKDJGDSHOUSECUDDYDUH. Soooo needless to say, i got over the fact that i was missing Megan REAL fast. Someone put a freaking link up. And if there already is one, plz let me know?! i want to make iconssssss.

HOUSE IS ON TONIGHT. AND I BOUGHT CINNAMON ROLLS TO MAKE DURING IT LOL BECAUSE I ALWAYS SAVE MY GOOD STUFF FOR HOUSE. I'm an all or nothing kind of girl, as i discovered upon spending many moments pondering my character the other night.

Me: "Hey, that guy is from Sex and the City!!!" (stanford was in "The Walk", an XF ep we watched last night)
Abby: "I think it's a rule that if you were on XF, you have to be on some other show."
Anna: "Yeah, it'll get you started in the biz."
Me: "Yeah, it's like a launch pad for your career."
Abby: "But you'd like a launch pad into Mulder's pants."
Me: "Fly me to the moon, baby.
