Had a production meeting on Friday. It was really helpful because everyone was there - DP, Art, Wardrobe, Director, 1st AD - and it was just super useful to me because the more I know about what they're doing and how they're doing it, the easier it is for me to understand what I need to be doing and how. We shoot this weekend, I'm excited but really nervous because I won't have help or a multitude of the equipment I got to use last time. Anyway, the meeting went on for three hours and it was really cool to have "BTS" as its own point of discussion on the outline. And then I got to talk about stuff and it sounded like I really had my shit together even though I'm nervous and new lol. \o/
After that I went to meet with a new producer who needs stills for his webseries. I will probably write about that later because there are some issues. Like transportation, for example - I took a plane here instead of my car because I felt like I'd be kept busy with this one show the whole time. So when other stuff crops up, it's a huge pain in the ass. When I told him this, though, he said that he'd get a PA to pick me up at home because they really need me. Which feels great, let's be real. They shot today and I didn't go (again, more issues asdkfhjajkh I can't, you guys, I can't), I haven't heard about tomorrow but I'm going to try hard for Wednesday because I've been told it's a big fun day. I don't know - it's a free favor I'd be doing so I'm not moving mountains to be there, but if it works out and it's easy, I'd love to go because I love being on set and I really love photography.
Saturday, I woke up to RAIN! It made me so happy to hear it pounding down as I was just waking up, drifting between dreams. I love sleeping during rain.
foxestacado picked me up (the street was even a little bit flooded!) and we went to The Getty Museum, but not before taking ~the scenic route~ *cough*goinginacircle*cough*, BUT I SAW SO MANY PRETTY HOUSES THAT I WANT FOR MY OWN. The museum was WONDERFUL - we had to take a tram thing up the hill, it is on top of a hill you guys, and I've been informed that on non-foggy days, you can see the ocean off in the distance. BUT IT WAS SO FOGGY WE COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING, IT WAS SO TRIPPY AND AMAZING. And really inspiring actually because I have an idea for a webseries about dreams and stepping outside, it was like I walked right fucking into it. LIKE, LOOK:
There's still a lot of art there I need to see! ♥ We went for lunch, she had been insisting that I try ramen but I put it off because I am afraid of trying new things, lol, especially food. But we went and it wasn't even awful! Big GIRL try new things! There was this... tofu-like Spam thing with a pink spiral in it and I was so amused by it I don't even know why. AND THEN OH MY GOD, SPEAKING OF AMUSING - THEY HAD A LITTLE JAPANESE MARKET WITH SO MANY CUTE THINGS, LIKE VEGETABLE CUTTERS IN CUTE SHAPES AND TINY, *TINY* LUNCH BOX THINGS. And, and, fucking KOALA YUMMIES, I bought a huge box and also a cool soda with fantastic design elements.
Last night, Tony and his friend Justin came over, along with Lindsey's friend Brit (who is super awesome, btw - we are going to take dance classes together!). We were going to go get Chinese food for dinner but we got lost, first of all. Tony made a joke about how it was like LOTR, and I was like, "One does not simply walk into Panda Express!" and he was like, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" and maybe you had to be there but it was hilarious. The girls wanted sushi, so I had planned on just making something at home but when we pulled up I saw that there was a sandwich place next door that I had been wanting to try - Which Wich lol sdlfjhsa. AND IT WAS SO CUTE, I had to fill out my order on the side of a bag with a series of ticky boxes and I love ticky boxes and also, Sharpies. They had a wall in the back that was FULL of brown sandwich bags that people had drawn pictures and written messages on - stuff like that always, always puts a smile on my face.
I got back to the car, and the girls weren't back yet so Tony and I were just like, sitting in the back seat waiting. BUT THEN, LOL, LOL, he pulled up his Sex Offender Locator app and we played a came where we'd click on people and try to guess their pervy offense just by looking at their picture. Shit like that - I love hanging out with Tony. It is never dull. We came back and I watched TV with Jason over Skype for an hour and then I went back to the party. We had a Power Hour, which, if you're not familiar, is a fucking LETHAL GAME, okay. Tony had an app for it - it'd play a song for one minute, and then a buzzer would go off and we'd all have to take a shot of beer. We did that for an entire hour with no stopping. Oh my god I got so drunk so fast.
And then we ended up having a dance party at two in the morning (lol, always a natural progression) and I was so happy, you guys. Justin had left and Tony was off brooding somewhere but Lindsey, Brit and I were having so much fun, dancing and singing so loud, going all out to the likes of Spice Girls and Celine Dion. Lindsey and I also had a stunning rendition of Africa by Toto. I remember at one point, Brit and I fell and just spent ages laughing and rolling all into each other, just dying. I really love dancing, even when it's ridiculous, drunk "interpretive" shit on the living room rug. There was just so much love and it wasn't just that I was happy, it was that everyone was happy, and in that moment everything we needed in the world felt like it was right there. Tony took tons of pictures, but he never posts any so I will have to steal them. He also took some video which I'd probably rather not see lol. Whatever - totally worth it. We didn't even care that we had to get red wine out of the carpet this morning. Then we just cuddled up in blankets and watched Dance Moms all day. There's a killer futon in the living room here, which we've elected to leave out like a bed, covered with blankets at all times. It is so cozy. All three of us were crammed on it, with food and covers, and Brit fell asleep wearing a turquoise tiara. ♥
