After finishing
'A Matter of Cultural Differences', the next (or the third, actually, but that's another story) problem was where to post the story. While I read on many archives, posting is quite another thing (I've only posted two (2!) ficlets before). After some consideration, I ended up choosing OSA (where my other ficlets are) and LOTRFF (NiRi's suggestion), both friendly and not too restrictive archives.
I've posted on SoA before, but skipped it this time - didn't think the new fic was quite their thing (if you've read it, you'll probably agree).
But: Some friends on my writer's forum suggested FFN. I had never even considered this archive because A. I don't read there anymore (not very many stories I like), and B. it has a reputation for a rather rough tone, with writers being harassed etc. (though it seems the situation has improved lately?)
I like reading on HASA, but didn't get any comments on the one ficlet I posted there. SoA (2 stories), OSA(3) and LOTRFF(1) gave quite a few reviews, all friendly and positive.
Still, as a novice it's hard to know what's the best choice for a given story, which is why I'd welcome the opinions and suggestions of more experienced - and/or prolific -writers: which sites are friendly and which not, which type of fic goes best on what archive, etc.
Please, share your experience!
