lol - I'm afraid it most be terribly boring for everybody else than Wood-elves nerds such as me.

Belatedly, I realized I should have pre-dated the four post and just left the top post on 8 June; would have cut down on the spamming. Sorry. :-)

It did not look like spamming to me and research is always very welcome.

Happy Birthday!

You've put a lot of work into this. It's good info, and I'm glad to get it. If one reads sil it is easy to get the impression that the Noldor were a superior creation, which they were. But wood elves have lots of great attributes and are worthy subjects to write. Thank you for doing such great research.

Thanks, Lissea! :-)

It'd be great if these posts could be of use to others and save them a little time when searching for 'that quote about Wood-elves and living things'. I tended to have all sorts of notes on scattered pages, inserted in HoME, or in a Word-file which was 50 pages long when I decided to put much of the stuff here and divide it into sections. (Afraid I haven't been keeping up at all, but thought about updating it only yesterday. )

Hi!
I'm in the process of writing some fan fic on Silvan Elves and this has been a real help!
Thank you for such an interesting and comprehensive piece of writing, it's great to have all these quotes in one place so I don't have to keep looking through my books.
Thanks again,

Hi Idhressel :-)

I'm so pleased you found those notes useful! Tolkien could have told us a bit more about the Silvans, but as it is, we have to cling to what little there is. Afraid the notes need updating with more HoME stuff. I'll try to get around to that... soonish.

Can I say that it's really great to hear that you're writing about the Wood-elves? Somehow it seems they are 'out of fashion' at the moment, but to me, they're the 'real' Elves, the ones who stayed and suffered through the years of Melkor's dominion while the Vanyar and Noldor and most of the Teleri sat safely tucked away in Aman. In my eyes, that really ought to earn them a little more respect.

Ehem... sorry for rambling!

What I wanted to say: Would you mind if I Friended you?

Hi Lissa,
I'd love to be your Friend! It's great to find another person who loves the Elves (especially the Silvans!!!) as much as I do.
For me, the Silvans are really important and interest me most, as I am basing my story on the Silvans in Mirkwood during the third age.
Love your journal!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Idhressel. :-)

It's great that we agree about the Silvans. I hope you'll have a wonderful time researching and writing your story!

I don't know how much fanfic you've read, but would like to mention that Jael write some wonderful stories about the Mirkwood-elves, mostly dramas or family, but also some romances (I'm not sure which genre you prefer).
