“Are you happy here, Haldir?”
Happy. What did that have to do with anything?
Glorfindel was a very perceptive elf. He nodded encouragingly at the youngster. “Speak your mind, Galadhel!”
So Haldir did.
“What has happiness got to do with it? I was not sent here to be happy. I came to learn how to fight, in any manner you can teach me, to learn all that I possibly can. Happiness … is not required.”
He failed to interpret Glorfindel’s expression, but sensed he had somehow disappointed him. Which was the last thing in the world Haldir wanted to do.
