I'm not a religious person, but this evening I'll be praying that Harper and the Conservatives don't win a majority government. Canada's in a whole lot of trouble if they do. I wonder why so many people don't see that. Say farewell to human rights and any resemblance to a socialist society, should Stephen Harper wield the power of the majority.
In my particular riding, the NDP person is sure to be re-elected. Pat Martin has won 3 or 4 elections in a row by a huge landslide, and it's unlikely to change now. What depresses me is that apparently 45% of Manitobans support the Conservatives. What's wrong with you, people? Argh.
This morning, some staffers from the Liberal candidate's offices were out in the street waving signs and encouraging people to vote. Sorry, folks...your candidate is a lost cause in my area. But hey -- at least you're reminding people that this is the day to be voting, so thanks for that.
So, my Canadian friends, get yourself out to the polls to vote today. It is my fervent belief that one has no right to complain about the government's inadequacies if one does not participate in the electoral process.
